Who Knows

As the receiver hovers near your ear, the ringing abruptly stops, replaced by a silence so heavy it feels palpable. Then, a voice "Well, well, well," she says, each word dripping with amusement. "Looks like you turned things around." Your heart skips a beat as you realize who it is—the mysterious woman from this morning. Her tone is playful, but there's an undercurrent of something else. Alex's grip on your hand tightens as he watches you, his eyes filled with a mix of confusion and dread. The voices lets out a sigh before continuing "Listen, I didn't see things going that way... it was unfortunate-"

Your anger surges at her words. You can feel the heat rising in your cheeks, your breath quickening as you tighten your grip on the receiver. You interrupt her,"Unfortunate?" your voice low and venomous, trembling with restrained fury. "I was being paraded around naked on a leash!" You scream, no longer able to contain your anger.

"Well the thing is sweetie, the spell wouldn't have chosen you if you didn't have somewhat of a desire for that, no matter how small it was...it's there." the mysterious woman says in her defense.

You mind reels at this, you hate to admit it but some part of you did enjoy it, you quickly shake your head. "No! Jimmy took it too far, he was to heartless and violent!" You yell back.

"I know...I know, I honestly didn't see that coming. I pictured something more...well not that." The woman says, with a tone of bewilderment and guilt.

"But, hey! You got away, with the help of that nice young man. Alex, was it?" She says mischievously, all past guilt seemly gone from her tone. "You certainly know how to thank your knight in shining armor." She says with a chuckle.

You're getting annoyed with her laugh, with great difficulty you swallow your anger and ask the question. "So did I lose? Am I pregnant?" You say in a defeated a tone.

"Oh, I don't know," she says, her tone light and almost playful, as if discussing something trivial.
