Who's that Girl

Who's that Girl

****

They all gathered around the table once again and listened to Mason repeat what Faith had told him. The Blood Angel, or Blutengel as she called it, by the position it placed its victims. The dates of the murders coincided with a number of occult celebrations. Halloween was just the most well-known one.

"I still don't get it," Jace said looking over at a sleepy Sean who, along with Lacey, was still wearing his pajamas, "You said it wasn't human but some sort of genetic monster, right? But... what? You're saying... it's a... demon? devil?"

Sean rubbed his sleepy eyes as he remembered all the DNA tests he had performed at the hospital in secret. "It has human DNA, mostly, but it also has a lot that's not human. Some appear to be animal DNA, but the rest... I don't know what it is."

"So what... Cthulhu?" Nikki asked hesitantly, her brow scrunched up in a frow "We're in Lovecraft story?" Some looked at her with raised eyebrows, "What? I've read some shit. You should see what Devin used to look at for inspiration."

'Nephelim,' a soft voice said so softly it was barely heard. They turn around to look at Faith. "Or a like you said a Demon, a Devil, Old Ones, Dead Gods or... whatever. Could just be a bargest," she added with a shrug.

"A Bar What?" Patrick asked.

"Exactly," Faith said without elaborating.

"So when will... this... Ceremony? or whatever it is happens again?" Zack asks with a raised eyebrow at Faith.

Mason looked sideways at Faith. She has a thin slime, somewhere between content and ... triumphant? He wonders how she knows this, or why. He wants to ask her but decides to not to press the issue. It was good enough to get a fresh look at the information they had and he had to admit this wasn't an angle they had even considered. If it played out it could help them get a better lead on the... thing.

"Obviously, on the next black holiday," Faith said nonchalantly. Everyone looked at her to elaborate some more but she just let out a sigh and looked over at Mason. "It's getting a little late for me. Honey, can you take me home?" she yawned with a sweet smile that really got to him.

"Mmm, sure," Mason said, "but, don't you want to stay?" he offered.

"Oh honey, that's really sweet," Faith smiled as her hand lightly caressed his cheek, "but you know I'm not that kind of girl."

"I know but, that's not what I meant, I..." Mason stumbled over his words while the rest of his friends grinned at the couple.

"I think there's a spare bedroom for you upstairs," Sara lightly touching her elbow. "We can get you settled in there for now."

"Oh! That would be great!" Faith beamed with glee and she let herself be guided away by other girls.

"Where did you find that girl?" Zack asked once the girls were out of earshot.

"Went to high school together," Mason said, "She was at that bar where Jace took us."

"What do you know about her," Peter asked curious to know more about this girl that had given them a new insight on their quarrey.

"She's was a pretty smart girl, everyone seemed to like her," Mason said as he quietly realized that although he 'knew her' he realized that he really didn't 'know her' that much, and yet somethng about her made him feel at ease. 'Guess I'll have to take her on faith' he thought and chuckled inside at the thought. Take Faith on faith.

"So where do you know Mason?" Alice asked, the journalist in her always wanting to know more.

"Oh, we go way back," Faith said as she looked around the neat, and tidy guest bedroom, "From high school actually."

"Mason never mentioned you," Lacey said.

"Oh, you know how it is. Boyfriends are always like that," Faith said and the girls all giggled in agreement, "Why would mine be any different."

"You were high school sweetheart?" Lacey almost squealed with glee at the thought.

"Almost," Faith hinted with a sly smile, neither affirming nor denying it.

"BOYS!" Nikki rolled her eyes and they all started laughing as they settled in to talk to the newest member of their sisterhood.

One Year Later.

"So... where?" Peter asked no one in particular Everyone hovered around the large table. It was a different manor on the outskirts of the city nearby. The map in front of them had a couple of lines drawn on it. Zack, Mason, Alice, Demi and Faith were the one maininly discussing the different posibilities,

"We already figured out it's avoiding the main ley lines," Faith said tracing one of the lines. She was wearing a floral sundress similar to every other sundress she had in her limited wardrobe, "So it has to be a secondary ley line, probably a cairn." Left unsaid was that it had to be an isolated location. For some reason, it always chose a building with a basement of some sort.

"Where did you learn about this?" Demi asked.

Faith had been a boon and sweet girl to have around. Almost as sweet and innocent as Lacey. But there still was a mystery around the blonde. something she didn't want to share. 'Something she's not ready to share,' Mason corrected himself. The others had pestered him about it but he refused to demand an answer from his girlfriend. Strange, her never knew when he had started to think of her that way.

"High school," Faith answered without looking up from the maps.

"Em, Faith," Mason said tentatively. "We never saw that in school."

"Sure we did," Faith said, "You were just too busy drooling over Destiny's breast."

"I was not drooling at her breast!" Mason defended himself in front of the others who just grinned knowingly.

"That's okay honey, You don't have to deny it." Faith said soothingly as she gave him a peck on the lips, "I forgave you for oogling at her a long time ago."

"You know I don't care how big a girl's tits are," Mason insisted.

"And that's one of the many reasons I love you," Faith said as she wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him.

"Get a room!" Nikki laughed.

"She's not that kinda girl," Sara chimed in as they laughed good naturedly at the happy couple.

"I think we found it." Sean said looking at the spot on the map Zack was pointing at. It was a blank spot on the maps but checking with satalite image from Google they could see the faint trace of rail tracks and it appeared to be an abandoned mining outpost.

"Check your gear. It's time for a stake out" Peter said.
