The Takeover is Begun, who do we Follow? (Great place to add side stories/branches!)
Wey'land Storms the School
Wey'land gazed out upon the once urban town, now converted to be much more inviting to the new inhabitants; a beautiful blend of organic and manmade architecture. Where once towering buildings dotted the skyline, now only one remained, the seat of his power, his very own Orthanc. As he watched, he saw the motions of countless of his Drones moving about, performing their various tasks. His gaze strayed to the desert, his mind going even farther beyond, to the powerful being that resided in the city on the far side. He had sent more Drones to keep an eye on things after his capture of the town, and now had eyes and ears on all of the major players of this man's group. He had initially worried that his Drones would be sensed, but it seemed that, much like in the lore of Alien, they were devilishly tricky to find if they didn't want to be found, and Wey'land had no plans to reveal their presence any time soon. He allowed himself to drift into musing before he was brought back to the present by a persistent communication from one of his spies. Knowing that they would not dare disturb him unless it was of great importance or strategic value, he opened his mind and began to listen to the report from his underling. Slowly, a sinister smile blossomed across his face.
"Well now, this is interesting, very interesting indeed. This may prove to be exactly what I need to put our inevitable meeting in my favor." With a growling chuckle that sounded more beast than man, he commanded the drones to capture any of the women they could without being discovered, before bringing them back to the nest for him to question, and then turn.
Sally sighed to herself, annoyed that none of her friends in the big city had responded to her in a while. The last thing she had heard was something about a weird prank happening on the college campus, but after that, nothing. It was getting annoying, how was she supposed to get those pathetic college boys to do things for her if she couldn't get in touch with the simpering fools. Once again she lamented the injustice of having had to move to this small town away from her admirers and those she allowed to associate with her when her daddy had suddenly decided to pack up and leave after something happened at his super secret job doing whatever, she didn't really care, so long as whatever he did kept paying for her top notch lifestyle.
She rolled her eyes at the moron droning on at the front of the room, uselessly trying to teach the group of simpletons that surrounded her the 'skills' they would need when they 'went out into the world for themselves'. She internally scoffed, as if she would ever have to raise a finger to get anything done, when daddy's money and her beauty were more than enough to do so by themselves.
She sighed again when she felt the one person she deigned to interact with her in this dump nudge her. Jerehmi, a handsome enough boy, not that she would ever think of doing anything more with him (not that she let on to him about that) was the son of the local mayor, and as such had a bit of influence himself, enough that she would tolerate his presence until she could move back to the city and be among the people she felt were more suited to be seen accompanying her.
Feeling him nudge her shoulder once more, she rolled her eyes and turned to him. "What?" she muttered irritably.
He looked at her with that stupid dopey look on his face that made the other girls swoon and give her envious looks, but to her just made him look like more of a gormless idiot than he already did. "Did you notice anything weird today? Like, people missing or anything like that? Dad's been trying to reach people all morning but he can't, any ideas on why?"
She looked at him deadpan, and was about to deliver a scathing and acerbic retort on how it was none of her business what the working class fools did with their time when suddenly the ground began to shake.
She looked around in panic, seeing many of her fellow students doing the same, before the teacher, Mr. Able, or Alvin, or Evans, she could never be bothered to remember, told them to get under the tables and get into the position. Sally squeezed under the table with Jerehmi, and held on to the legs as the shaking continued. As she waited for the shaking to stop, she heard Jerehmi ask, "Do you hear something? I swear I hear something."
She looked at him with blank eyes and with as much sarcasm as she could muster, which was a considerable amount, heatedly asked, "Do you mean aside from the ground shaking around us?" He just nodded with an earnest look on his face, to which she sighed and rolled her eyes, before noticing that the shaking was lessening and quickly stopped all together. As the students slowly rose to retake their seats, and the teacher began to speak about how rare earthquakes were for the area, Sally suddenly saw something erupt out of the ground in her peripheral vision.
Whipping her head around, she looked on in shocked disbelief as something that looked like a monster straight out of a horror story pulled itself out of the ground. It was tall, at least seven feet standing, and had a black skin that reflected the early sun's light. it was quickly followed by another, then another, soon they were practically spilling out of the ground. Sally could hear blood pumping heavily in her ears, and vaguely heard someone screaming, before realizing it was her. She was not alone in this for long, as more and more people began to scream as they saw the creatures pour from the ground like ants streaming from an anthill.
Suddenly, her vision was captured by the final creature pulling itself out. This one was different, unlike the others, it stood at least a head above the others, and had a distinctive shape on the front of its head. Then, most terrifyingly of all, it spoke. "Capture all inside, let none escape, deal with any that resist, do not fail me, go!" It's booming proclamation could be heard throughout the school, at this time it held only seniors, and the odd junior who was studying up a grade, as the rest were still at home, school starting and ending for them later than the oldest among them.
Within moments, the creatures were amongst them, giving them no chance to escape or even begin to think about ways out. Sally, along with Jerehmi and the rest of the student in the classroom, were quickly herded onto the large open blacktop at the front of the school. After no more than five minutes, almost everyone that had been inside was now huddled together outside, under the guard of the creatures who had **** them.
As one, a group of the creatures parted to reveal the larger one, who was seemingly the leader.
As it looked at the scared students and faculty, its face broke into a horrifying facsimile of a grin, with metallic looking teeth glinting in the early morning rays. Then, strangely, and also just as scarily, it began to laugh, starting with a chuckle that quickly morphed into a full on belly laugh, the creature seemed to find great humor in the situation. "You know," it said, wiping its eyes, an oddly human action coming from something so obviously not, "if this and last night were this easy, I truly am meant to rule this place." It shook its head, seeming to come out of some introspective reverie. "But enough of that for now. I," he gestured grandiosely to himself, "Am Wey'land. I am the new God-Emperor of this land, and soon much more. You all, along with the rest of this pathetic town, have been chosen to become my first subjects. With the help of my children, you will all soon be transformed, nay, elevated, into the creatures you see around you. For most of you, that will be your fate and your existence will be nothing more than tending to the needs of my lands. However, for some of the more charming individuals here, you will have a much greater purpose." His eyes swept over the crowd, and Sally could not help but shudder, feeling as if he had looked directly at her.
As if drawn to her movement, his gaze locked with hers, and he moved forward, his movements the pure grace of a predator assured of his prey’s inability to escape. “You, what is your name?” Sally shook, pure terror coursing through her, he growled, and asked the question again, a more bestial undertone present the second time, “I said,” he moved forward, “What. Is. Your. Name?”
“S-S-Sally. My n-name’s Sally.” He grinned, and suddenly, out of nowhere, Sally felt herself be shoved back and saw Jerehmi step in front of her.
“Leave her alone.” He tried to muster up bravado, but there was a tremor in his voice.
Sally expected the beast to just sweep aside this obviously paltry threat, but to her surprise, he chuckled again, sounding more like a growl than a laugh, and spoke. “Oh? And why should I do that? I have you surrounded, my Drones are taking over the city as we speak, soon this entire town will be under my control. So I ask again, why should I let her, or for that matter any of you, go?”
Jerehmi swallowed but held resolute, “We can fight.”
At this, the creature began to laugh. Sally had heard him laugh before, but this time, it sounded more human, somehow more real, and yet it also seemed to contain an undertone of primal rage at being questioned in such a way. It took a full minute for the creature to stop laughing, seemingly unaware of the awkwardness of the moment for everyone else. He gave a few last chuckles before responding, seeming to do a 180 in temperament, becoming jovial and relaxed. "You've got guts kid, I'll grant you that, not many your age that could stand up to me knowing they had a chance, let alone in a hopeless situation like you're in. You know what? That made an already great day even better, so I'll make you a deal. You beat me in a fight, and I'll let everyone here go, sound fair? Hell, I'm the sporting type, I'll let you have one free shot. How's that sound, hero?"
Jerehmi looked back at the monster and smirked, clearly thinking that this was his chance to prove himself, and nodded, "You've got yourself a deal, you freak," and wound up his arm before unleashing a punch at the creature's groin, clearly hoping for a cheap shot takedown. The monster didn't even flinch, but looked unimpressed at Jerehmi, who suddenly looked a lot less sure of himself.
"Hmm, a shame. Well, now it's my turn." Faster than Sally's eyes could follow, something whipped through the air past Jerehmi's neck. Sally felt a brief moment of disbelief, thinking whatever had happened had failed, as Jerehmi started to turn, but as he did so, a thin red line appeared on his neck, and Sally looked on in horror as his head slowly separated from his body. The sickeningly wet thump of his decapitated corpse hitting the ground caused a few in the crowd to vomit, but all Sally could focus on was the approaching form of the creature. Sally felt herself begin to shake as he stopped right in front of her. "Sally, was it?" She nodded her head violently, looking more like she was having a seizure than answering a question. "You are a delightful woman, Sally, very appealing, but I think you already knew that. Yes, you seem the type to always hide behind daddy's purse strings, a girl who has never seen a hard days work in her life, am I close?" So terrified that she could feel her bladder trembling, Sally shakily nodded. He smirked, "Yes, I think you would benefit from learning the meaning of work; I think you will do nicely for my needs.
Suddenly emboldened by her fear, Sally burst out, "Wait! My Daddy, he does important work for the government, he makes a lot of money, he could pay you! You can have all these people, just let me go!" Angry murmurs erupted from the crowd, though they didn't do anything for fear of the creatures surrounding them.
The monster just smiled, and shook his head, "Oh? And what, pray tell, does your daddy do?"
Thinking that she was getting somewhere, Sally laid her cards on the table. "He works for some sorta secret government group, they develop viruses and bioweapons, he thinks I don't know, but I've read some of his emails when he left his computer on. The group is named... O something, it starts with an O, I don't remember. That's all I know, I swear!"
The thing seemed to consider her words, before smiling again. "Very well, I am intrigued by this, we will discuss this in more depth later. For right now, you will come back with me..."
Sally shook her head violently, emboldened by the creature's overture, "No! The deal was I tell you what I know and you let me go!"
The creature smirked, "My dear, there was no such deal, and even if there was, I never agreed to it. Now, you have two options, do as I say, or remain with the others. Choose."
Sally took a deep breath, before asking, "What do you want me to do now?"
"Now," the creature said, raising a hand in front of her face, "You take a deep breath." Sally inhaled deeply, the green mist emanating from the creature's hands flooding her system, before darkness claimed her.
Wey'land looked at the nubile girl **** in his arms and smirked thinking of what he could do with her, before passing her to a nearby Praetorian. "Take her back to the house and make sure she stays asleep."
The Praetorian nodded and said, "Yes, My Lord." Before departing back down the hole from which they had emerged.
Turning away from the group of people, Wey'land looked over the city, his Drones relaying information regarding the status of the takeover. It seemed that aside from a few small pockets of resistance, his actions had gone entirely to plan, and he now controlled the town. He would have to deal with the fools eventually, but for now he instructed his Drones to begin rebuilding the city into something more suitable for the nest.
Intending to bask in his victory, he began to walk away from the school and towards the center of town, where a few skyscrapers dotted the skyline.
Already envisioning the changes he would enact on the appearance of the area, he distractedly called over his shoulder to the Praetorians still present, "Choose a number of the females to become your sisters, let the Drones at the rest. Once they've slaked their lusts, have them transported to incubation chambers."
A chorus of 'Yes, My Lord's sounded, followed in a few moments by terrified screams and eventually a few moans. Wey'land, though, heard none of it, mind already on other things, not the least of which was the mouthy brat that he intended to make queen of this nest. 'Yu'tani will be pleased,' he thought, 'a daughter for her to spoil and enjoy with me will be a wonderful victory gift.'
