I Lowkey Forgot Raine Is An Athlete
Weather Forecast: Heavy Raine-fall Part 2
I smiled lightly and said, “I mean, it’s about time. You look like you need to vent out some anger. You’ve been pissed all day and I can’t possibly figure out why.” Oh, the ragebaiting gave me happy chills.
Raine dropped the grin and finally snapped. “What the fuck is your problem? You’ve been acting all high and mighty all day like you’re better than me. You think just because my mom suspended you that you somehow won? Are you retarded or something?”
I leaned against a shelf, completely calm. “I don’t think about you at all, Raine. That’s kind of the point.”
Her face twisted. “Bullshit. You’ve always been obsessed with me. Everyone knows it. You and your stupid cousin and your pathetic dad and your sad little life. I am a fucking McClane, Jackson, and I could destroy you whenever I want.”
“Then do it,” I said, bored. “Or shut up. Either works.”
That was the last straw.
Raine lunged. She came in swinging like she’d been waiting all day for this. Fist aimed at my face at the same speed she used to yeet softballs into the Sun. I barely had time to move as I remembered Raine was a trained athlete who could probably knock my socks off. And then her knuckles connected with my face.
The Strength points I’d dumped into my attributes made her punch feel like a gentle tap.
She tried again. A slap. A shove. Another wild swing. None of it did anything. Her attacks just…bounced. Mild surprise showed on my face. Meanwhile, she looked more and more frustrated with every failed attempt, her face turning red.
“What the hell?” she hissed, breathing harder. “Did you start working out or something? Start moving!”
She threw another punch at my chest. And another. She entered a state of fury that reduced her to throwing a flurry of consecutive punches - kind of like a Temu Star Platinum. While it did jack shit, it was hard to concentrate hard enough to mentally type in my command word, and 100 consecutive punches on the same spot, even with my upgrades, still kind of hurt a little. Then Max’s voice cut into my head, sharp and amused.
Need a hand, Pervman?
Kinda, yeah.
Alright. Borrowing a little technique. Don’t get used to it.
Suddenly my body moved on its own.
The best way to describe it was like Ultra Instinct from Dragon Ball. My head tilted just enough for her fist to sail past. My hand came up, caught her wrist, and redirected her momentum so she stumbled into a shelf. She spun around, furious, and came at me again. My body weaved, blocked, and countered without me even thinking about it. Every attack she threw was either dodged or neutralized with almost zero effort. Every single part of my body knew exactly what it was doing - beating Raine at her own game.
Raine was getting desperate now. She tried to knee me. I stepped inside it, caught her by both wrists, and pinned her against the wall of the storage room with almost no force at all. She struggled, but the power gap was too big. She couldn’t budge me.
Her chest rose and fell rapidly. Up close I could see the anger and confusion warring in her eyes. She still thought she was in control. She still thought she could talk her way or fight her way out of this.
I looked down at her, calm, and felt the Wish-Interface flicker into existence at the edge of my vision.
New Target: Raine McClane
Please select command word.
I already knew what I wanted.
I leaned in just enough that my forehead nearly touched hers.
“Bitch.”
The word left my mouth soft and deliberate.
Raine’s eyes went wide for half a second… then the light in them simply vanished. The struggle stopped. Her body went still against the wall, arms limp in my grip, face slack and empty. The trance took her completely.
Silence filled the storage room.
I slowly let go of her wrists. She stayed where she was, staring blankly ahead, waiting.
A slow, satisfied smile spread across my face.
Finally.
After years of her shit… Raine McClane was mine.
