In a dystopian future world a pharmaceutical company is a victim of its own success. The flu and most human illnesses have been eradicated, their sales are dropping and it looks like thousands of people will be out of work. The CEO takes drastic action and has his company secretly perform advanced genetic engineering to produce an incredibly infectious virus that infects humans. The virus is only active on Saturdays and causes a fever that lasts 24 hours. The companies plan succeeds and the CEO becomes a billionaire selling a treatment that prevents the fever without curing the infection. His company basically sells people their weekends as a subscription service.
