Walk into the valley

As you proceed into the sheltered valley, barren tundra gives way to dense vegetation; trees, bushes, flowers, even some patches of grass sticking out from some areas where the snow must be thinner on the ground. There's no sign of any animals however, and you can't shame the feeling that something is watching you.

You follow the small river that runs through the valley, hoping that it might just help lead you out of this frozen world. Just as you begin to wonder if you're a safe distance from the water's edge, you're startled by a booming howl followed by multiple yelling voices. You jump and lose your footing, plummeting into the ice cold water. The shock is too much for you to bear, the now soaked furs weighing you down and pulling you deeper, quenching any hope of swimming to the surface to safety.

Just as you vision fades to black, you see something dive into the water and swim towards you.
