Do you wake up?
Wake Up
"Table for two," Scott said as we approached the hostess. He yawned and stretched his arms out wide.
"Where would you like to sit?" the hostess replied. Cindy was her name. She was short, tan, skinny, and very pretty. "By the window? In a booth?"
I looked at Scott then out over the restaurant which was surprisingly empty save for a few couples that were wrapping up their meals. I scanned left, right, back, and eventually just shrugged.
"Wherever," I said. "I just need something to drink."
"By the window is good," Scott answered. Cindy the hostess smiled and grabbed two menus then led the way to our table.
"Hey!"
Of course, I thought. It was Mia and she was waving us over to her large table that was currently occupied by only herself and Glenn.
"We've got a table here," she said, eagerly. "You should join us!"
Scott looked over at me, seemingly reading my mind. On one hand, I really wanted to just have a break from the group - to be able to enjoy a sit-down meal with just my husband without talking about... everything. On the other hand, I didn't want to be rude to Glenn, or especially Mia.
Scott seemingly had no problem staying silent, looking to me for direction.
Thanks a lot!
I took a deep breath.
