Wake Up

You awaken to the same sights, sounds, and smells which have surrounded you for your whole life. The sun pours through your bedroom window. Birds chirp around the neighborhood and your family's chatter rises from downstairs. Accompanying their voices is the smell of bacon cooking, syrup, and other tasty breakfast treats. You climb out of your bed and stretch, preparing yourself for what you yet again hope to be a better day than the last. Walking downstairs towards the kitchen, your family's conversation comes into focus.

Mom: "Sweetie you can't be serious. Why would I be on board with that?"

Veronica: "Because I already have the credits! Why would I take another year when I can already graduate?"

Mom: "You are not moving out of this house a minute before you have to young lady. It would break my heart."

Veronica: "Gah!!"

She was practically a certified genius. You wouldn't have passed Calculus last semester if it wasn't for her help with your homework, which she basically finished with the same effortless work that one would put into a coloring book. Though, you certainly wouldn't like it if she left home this early. You step into the kitchen.

Mom: "Good morning honey!"

Veronica: "Hey little bro."

Cassie: "Morning Cedge!"

You: "Good morning guys. We having an early-morning argument?"

Cassie walks up and leans against your shoulder.

Cassie: "Veronica wants to abandon us."

Veronica: "I do not! I just don't want to stay in school when I don't have to!"

Mom: "Don't worry babe, nobody is leaving this house until I say so."

Veronica groans and you all smile. Mom has been attached to her kids ever since dad gave up custody. Surely big sis will see that she just wants to provide for you all for as long as she can. As you look around the room, you realize how everyone has grown and feel an odd attraction that you've been considering recently. Mom was gorgeous. Mom: "Bye girls! Have an amazing day."

Veronica and Cassie: "Bye mom!"

You sit down at the bar behind your mother and begin to eat your breakfast. It seems like every morning it's better than the last. Your mom truly is an expert cook.

Mom: "Honey do you want a glass of milk with that?"

You: "Sure, thanks mom."

She pours a glass and comes around to place it by your plate before leaning in and kissing your forehead. Oh well. You finish your meal and grab your backpack.

You: "See you later mom."

Mom: "Wait! Aren't you forgetting something?"

You: "Alright bye mom, I'll see you after school." you say as you walk away from the hug.

Mom: "Bye honey, have a wonderful day in class!"
