Wait

You want to attack the goblins. All that easy experience, just within reach, is so tempting. Surely a bunch of weak goblins won't be a challenge... but... Part of you can't help but worry. Yes, they are weak. Yes, they seem to have no leader and are likely disorganized, not to mention stupid. But there are 15 of them, and just one of you. If they manage to surround you – and that seems very likely, considering their numbers – you'll be in trouble. You've heard adventurers complain how they got surrounded and killed by various creatures. You have no desire to find out what that feels like.

Your thoughts are interrupted by a scream of pain. You look towards the source and see an arrow sticking out of the shoulder of one goblin. Moments later two more goblins also scream in pain, hit by arrows. As you watch you see more arrows hitting the goblins. There must be at least two archers. You determine, based on the number of arrows. Then a thought occurs to you. Why are the goblins not dying? You wonder as you see that, indeed, not a single one of the wounded creatures has died yet.

One of the few still-unhurt goblins lets out a high-pitched shout (that you figure is supposed to be a terrifying roar) and then charges towards the place the arrows are coming from. The other goblins follow his lead and also charge. None of them notices you.

Since they can't kill even lowly goblins the archers must be low-level rookies. They will likely get overwhelmed, especially since the goblins will likely have the advantage in melee... unless I help them! You suddenly realize that this might be your best chance. Sure, you will still be outnumbered, but most enemies are wounded, plus the goblins are not expecting to get attacked from behind. Overall the odds of success seem much higher than of you had just charged the goblins on your own, with no support.
