"Wait a minute," said Susie. Something was bugging her. Exactly how much time had they spent in the Mirror Maze? And what had really gone on in there.

"Why did I say that thing about our clothes?" she said. "It's not the kind of thing I would normally say at all. Unless..."

She looked down at herself.

"Bonnie," she said, to Bonnie, in a very small voice. They were standing right in the middle of Sideshow Alley, surrounded by lights and music and balloons and the smell of popcorn and hundreds of carnival guests, many of whom they knew from school. "Can you tell me something, please?"

"What?"

"Do I have any clothes on?"

Bonnie looked at Susie, gasped, and said in a horrified (though slightly curious) tone of voice, "Susie! You've got no clothes on!" Instantly, half a dozen heads turned to look.

"Bonnie," said Susie, urgently, "it's even worse than that."

"Why?"

"You've also got no clothes on."

Bonnie looked down at herself and said, in a tense whisper, "Susie! What do we do?"

"Keep very very quiet and slowly sidle away. Maybe nobody will notice us."

"Ladies and gentlemen," said a booming voice, as a brilliant tower-mounted spotlight shone down on on Bonnie and Susie from above, grabbing the attention of pretty much every single person in Sideshow Alley. "Now presenting for your entertainment... two NAKED GIRLS!"
