Viral Takeover: Day 1 Kelsey

It was the Galactic calendar year 25XX, January 17th.

My name is Kelsey Sinclair, the Senior Science officer aboard the UNSS Athena and hold the rank of Lieutenant Commander. I graduated at the top of my class at the academy and I was selected for this mission out of 5,000 candidates for this position, which was something I am quite proud of. I just turned 20 years old two months ago and was having trouble passing the time, 6 months into a 9 month long voyage, until we discovered something interesting.

To begin, our mission is to a recently discovered planet to study and to permanently colonize the planet named Araika-3. We aren’t due to arrive at for another three months at the other side of the Milky Way galaxy. Our ship, the Athena, uses an experimental engine, the first and only of its kind, to allow us to travel the vast distance in only 9 months, which would normally take 25 years. Due to the nature of the colonization mission, the entire 413 member crew, including myself, is only female. There were 1000 female colonists kept cryogenically frozen who were to be awoken upon the ship’s arrival to Araika-3. The plan is that upon reaching Araika-3 we would use the millions of sperm and hundreds of embryos froze to make ourselves become pregnant so we could raise a new generation of humans on the planet from scratch.

Since we were on a 9 month journey most of the crew called each other by their first names. Some of the girls had become good friends already. A few of the girls have even started relationships with each other and planned on marrying when we arrived on Araika-3.

While on our journey, we had recently found an abandoned laboratory module from a former prison ship that had been jettisoned 120 years ago, light years away from where the prison ship’s logs recorded its routes. We sent over a team to investigate and bring back anything useful and any information on how this module could have gotten there. On board our team discovered.

There was no signs of life aboard but there was a singular frozen corpse found aboard which was identified and then cremated aboard the Athena. We were able to identify the person as a man named Aden Young, a career criminal, who spent his criminal career experimenting on people, biological terrorism, theft, armed robbery and corporate espionage. His apparent goal was trying to achieve immortality by transferring his mind to another body. His experiments were all failures.

What we were able to find out was that laboratory was jettisoned after what appeared to be a fire with Aden inside for some unknown reason. The only thing useful we found inside the laboratory module was a several samples of VM fluid locked in an air tight sealed container. VM fluid was a liquid once thought to be lost to time. It was used to help heal wounds, fight illnesses and improve one’s physical abilities. Aden was involved in its development and with his prison sentence and apparent ****, its formula was unknown and samples of it all disappeared.

Captain Alexis approved of allowing me to study the VM fluids in hopes we’d be able to manufacture it when we got to Araika-3. We hoped if we could replicate this lost formula we’d have a useful tool to help treat our crew.

This afternoon, I’d take my first crack at trying to discover the formula. I entered my lab and opened the locked refrigerator containing the vials containing the VM fluid. I reached in and grabbed the first vial before sitting back in my chair at my desk. The VM fluid had a pretty blue color, I couldn’t help but admire the strange scientific miracle.

Being able to see such an incredible piece of lost medical technology and be the first one to see it in decades was truly an honor. If I could replicate it I would go down in history as the woman who unlocked the mystery of the VM fluid. Perhaps this notoriety would be something my children would get to brag about one day.

“Hmm… children…” I said to myself caressing my stomach with my free hand.

The thought that in a few months time I would be artificially inseminated by the ships gynecologist obstetrician, who was currently frozen, was something I both looked forward to and worried. Would I be a good mother? How would my children feel not having a father? How many kids would I end up having? Part of our mission was to birth as many kids as possible. Would I live with one of the other women as co-parents to each other’s kids? Should I marry one of my fellow crew mates? These thoughts lingered in my mind for a few minutes.

“Back to work!” I woke myself up from my own daydreaming.

I held up the vial to my face trying to get a better look at it visually before I’d try putting the liquid into the analyzation machine to see if it could identify it’s chemical make up.

While I admired its beautiful color something began to happen. Some kind of chemical reaction was happening inside the vial! The VM fluid seemed to be rapidly heating up on its own! I hadn’t done anything to it and the fluid was fine only moments ago?! Before I knew it the Vial shattered in my hands!

“Ah!” I screamed as the vial suddenly shattered!

The VM liquid splattered all over the place onto my face and bodysuit! I dropped the vial to the floor, that was now super heated! Thankfully no glass had gone flying in my direction so I was unscathed physically. However emotionally I was furious. My anger and frustration got the better of me!

“Damn it!” I cursed as wiped my face of the VM fluid with a towel.

I got up from my chair and locked the refrigerator and stormed off! How could this have happened?! Just a moment ago it was fine and room temperature and then somehow the vial superheated itself and shattered?! I didn’t want to ruin the other samples so I’d try again another day. We still had two months to go anyway.

I started down the hallways of the Athena towards the locker room so I could change before going back to my room itself. As I was walking I was starting to feel a bit drowsy. I decided to take a nap. It would be my best for the time being to cool my head and rest so I could try again either later that evening if not tomorrow. Inevitably I stumbled into my subordinate while walking down the hallways.

“Good afternoon, Kelsey.” My junior and technically my subordinate, Lieutenant Mei Shen, greeted me.

“Good afternoon, Mei.” I greeted her back.

Mei Shen was a rather serious girl. She was two years younger than me. Her short dark blue hair and blue eyes were quite pretty. While we were on relatively friendly terms, the two of us both preferred to work alone and worked on mostly opposite schedules. This didn’t really matter as until now we hadn’t had much to do since leaving Earth and the Sol system as the Athena’s instruments and data collection devices largely operated themselves.

“How your analysis of the VM fluid?” Mei asked.

“Not great. I lost a sample just a minute ago. The vail shattered and the VM fluid spilled. So I’m going to hold off on further study until tomorrow.” I explained.

“That’s unfortunate. Well maybe you should just rest up then.” Mei suggested.

“You don’t have to tell me.” I quipped. “Anyways I’m going back to my quarters for the night.”

“Right. Have a good night then.” Mei bid me a good night.

I continued walking down the hallway and eventually reached the locker rooms. As I reached my hand out to open the door, the door slid open! Lieutenant Janina Kowalski, our ships red headed doctor was just leaving the locker room. She was wearing her red and white uniform that indicated she was on the medical staff of the ship.

“Oh good afternoon Kelsey!” Janina said startled nearly walking into me as the door opened.

“Good afternoon Janina. Sorry to bump into you.” I apologized.

“No I’m sorry I should’ve let the door finish opening before trying to walk out.” Janina apologized in turn.

“Don’t worry about it. How’s Nea by the way?” I asked about her fiancé.

“Oh she’s doing great, she’s been doing all the usual maintenance on all the medical equipment.” Janina explained.

“That’s good to hear. By the way I was wondering if I could ask you a personal question?” I asked my nervousness coming through my voice.

“Sure I don’t mind.” Janina agreed.

“I was wondering how many kids were you two planning on having?” I inquired.

“Well Nea is from a big family from New Helsinki. She had two brothers and four sisters. So the two of us agreed that when we get to Araika-3 we’d also have a large family. So we decided we’d both have three kids. That way we’d have a big family like Nea wants.” Janina explained happily.

“Wow.” I said amazed at their commitment. “Thanks for sharing.”

“What brought this up? Is something on your mind?” Janina asked wondering why I suddenly asked.

“I was just thinking about my future earlier. That was all.” I explained.

“Yeah there’s a lot to think about. But we are still months away before any of us start getting ourselves artificially inseminated.” Janina reassured.

“Well, thanks for sharing this with me.” I thanked her with a smile.

“Don't mention it. Part of my job is ensuring the mental well being of the passengers and crew too.” Janina said with a smile.

Janina and I went out separate ways after that. I was feeling more tired and exhausted every passing minute. I went into the locker room and changed into a black t-shirt and black shorts before walking back to my room. Placing my hand on the doors electronic interface, the door slid open having confirmed my identity. I stepped inside my room and pulled off my shorts, I looked in the mirror at myself for a moment and felt the weird feeling like I was looking at a stranger.

It was the oddest feeling. Leaning towards the mirror to get a better look at my own face, I couldn’t help but admire myself. While I know people considered me pretty I was not the kind of person to flaunt my beauty, but for some reason my own reflection was mesmerizing me. Before I knew it my hands cupped my breasts and began to knead my breasts.

“Nnnn…” I moaned as a gently groped my breasts. “Damn this bitch has nice tits!” I said enjoying the pleasant feeling of my breast being fondled and squeezed.

“What the hell was that?!” I exclaimed coming out of the strange trance I was in. “I must be hallucinating from my drowsiness!” I said to myself trying to rationalize my actions.

Having snapped out of it, I threw myself onto my bed and immediately began to fall asleep almost immediately.

As I slumbered my body began to heat up! I tossed and turned. I closed my eyes tight as my head started pounding! My head ached and felt almost like it was going to explode! Pain was enveloping my mind! Then suddenly my body began to shake! I couldn’t control my own body anymore! My eyes started to roll to the back of my head! Something was putting pressure directly into my head… no… My Mind itself!

My consciousness was beginning to fade! I could feel something entering my mind! Thoughts and emotions. A sadistic pleasure! My body began to become aroused, my nipples began to stiffen and I could feel myself become wet! All I could think was, “What was happening to me!” I felt like my body was becoming no longer my own.

Then everything went black…
