Very Well

Maria canon-balled into the pool, causing a massive splash, a wave spreading out from where she landed spreading across the pool. As the wave hit Davey, it **** his head under the water, filling his mouth and nostrils with the salty fluid before he could react.

Maria grinned wickedly as she swam towards Davey, her eyes fixed on his tiny form. "Are you ready for our game of shark and guppy?" she taunted, her voice dripping with amusement.

Davey's heart pounded in his chest as he tried to think of a way to outsmart Maria. He knew that if he let her catch him, there was no chance in hell he could ever escape being her boyfriend.

"I'm ready," Davey said bravely, trying to hide the fear in his voice. Davey dove into the center of the pool, trying to go as deep as his lung capacity would let him.

Maria chuckled and began to circle Davey, her eyes scanning the pool for any sign of him. Davey knew that he needed to act intelligently if he wanted to win the game.

He darted through the water, his tiny legs kicking as fast as they could as he rushed along the pools floor. Maria's eyes eventually caught Davey's shrunken frame and began to chase after him, her long legs easily making the distance in a quarter of the time it took Davey. But Davey was sharp and agile, and he managed to evade her grasp when she clawed out to grab him.

He swam to the edge of the pool and clung to the side, his heart pounding in his chest. Maria swam towards him, a smug grin on her face. She spread her arms wide, blocking off all possible routes for Davey to escape.

But just as she brought her open arms together to grab him, Davey let go of the edge and dove underwater under her chest. Maria gasped in surprise, her eyes widening as she realized that Davey had outsmarted her. She tried to trace his rapidly moving figure with her eyes, forward somersaulting in the water, but in the time it took her to turn around, Davey had managed to cover half the pool's distance.

"You little brat!" she yelled, briefly bringing her face above the surface of the water, as it began to contort with annoyance. "I'm going to get you!"

Being in Maria's line of sight, it was easy for Davey to understand that without a change in strategy, there was no way he could continue to outmaneuver Maria. Davey considered his options, when suddenly, an idea came to him. He remembered that the pool had a cosmetic waterfall completely covering one end of the pool, where the water cascaded down to cover up the entrance to the filtration system. He could use it to his advantage here.

Maria chuckled wickedly and dove into the water, swimming toward Davey with powerful strokes. Davey waited until the last possible moment, then darted toward the waterfall. He swam as fast as he could, using the rushing water to mask his movements and throw Maria off his trail. Davey briefly swam out by about a foot, making sure to make himself as visible as possible to the surface of the water as he did. Maria quickly picked up on the movement, and Davey darted back under the feature. Maria traced the movement that she saw to the other end of the pool, and Davey could breathe a sigh of relief that he managed to get her off his back. His new position brought its own problems however, as the water pouring from the pool into the drainage slot was constantly pushing him inwards. Davey had to alternate being above the water to catch his breath, and below the water to regain his energy from the current.

Meanwhile, Maria had shoved her head under the water, trying to regain track over Davey's location, when eventually the timing worked out in her favor, and she locked on to Davey.

But the distance between them was too much even for a skilled swimmer like Maria. He darted around the pool, always staying just out of her reach. With Maria just seconds away from grabbing Davey, the two heard Maria's alarm on the surface. Maria's expression turned even more annoyed, as she rose to the surface of the water.

"Fine, you win," she grumbled, pouting as she swam towards the edge of the pool.
