Vanessa goes out camping

The more Vanessa thought about the situation, the more catastrophic her fears became. She decided it was not wise to stay at her house even for a single night. She pondered her options. There were relatives and friends nearby who could probably let her crash for a day of two, but she was convinced the situation would not go away in such a short time, and she didn't feel like explaining why she wanted to stay away from home for a longer time.

Not able to think of a better plan, Vanessa went to find her family's old tent and camping gear, throw a couple of days' worth of clothes in her backpack and got in her car. She drove off without really knowing where she was headed.

Vanessa watched as the town disappeared and drove until all she saw around her was trees. She turned onto a small country road and drove until sunset. She finally arrived at a small lake with no houses in sight.

Vanessa used the last few minutes of daylight to put up her tent, crawled into her sleeping bag and fell asleep instantly.
