What are you going to do?

Use the cure on Donna now

Chapter 24 by pt3579 pt3579

You didn't think Donna had enough time. You grabbed a syringe from your pocket and injected her with it immediately.

"What's that?" George asked with concern.

"It's a cure for the infection. I got it from a friend." You quickly answered and watched Donna's reaction carefully.

Everything seemed to be fine. Donna's breathing and body temperature returned to the normal range in just seconds. But you didn't even have time to catch your breath as you saw blood beginning to soak the bandages on her neck and between her thighs. You tried your best, used more bandages, but it was not enough to stop the bleeding. Her body twitched in pain for a few seconds before she stopped breathing. She was gone.

"Damn it!" You angrily threw the bloodied bandages away.

"Don't blame yourself... You tried..." Fran gently touched your shoulder. You could feel her hand shaking, as the wounds on her shoulder hadn't fully healed up yet.

"We should tell the others..." Grace sighed helplessly when she covered Donna's body with a blanket.

You nodded without a word, and quietly followed everyone out of the room. What happened just now was so far beyond reason that everyone got quite a scare. You decided to tell the mayor and Leonard about what happened to Donna by yourself, while the others returned to their rooms for some rests.

When you went back to the staircase, you saw someone who you didn't expect to see, standing in the corridor. It was Valerie. She was holding her crossbow as she looked at you all warily. Even after she recognized you, she didn't let her guard down.

"Valerie? What are you doing here?" You asked with confusion.

"I smelled blood when I was patrolling. What happened?" Valerie stared at you, like she was suspecting you.

"Shannon is a werewolf. She... killed the housemaid." You replied very carefully.

"Then what happened to this Shannon?" She kept asking, kept aiming the crossbow at you.

"The mayor killed her before she could do more harm." You didn't dare to make a further move.

"The mayor is here?" Valerie's eyes widened as she immediately lowered her crossbow.

"You!" Andrew's voice came from the staircase, and you all looked to that direction.

The mayor quickly drew his revolver and aimed at Valerie, while she just stood there still. The situation changed so quickly that you couldn't figure out what was going on but just stay and watch.

"It was you, wasn't it? You did this to Shannon." Andrew's hand holding the revolver shook slightly as he spoke, "I should've killed you when you were infected all those years ago, you filthy creature!"

"It wasn't me." Valerie answered calmly.

{if game}{if game:F2R1_Act1ValerieSex == True}So the mayor knew Valerie was a werewolf too? And he was suspecting that Valerie was the one who had infected Shannon? {elseif game:F2R1_Act1ValerieSex == False}Wait... Was what the mayor just said implying that Valerie was a werewolf? And he was suspecting that Valerie was the one who had infected Shannon? {endif}{else}You realized the mayor was suspecting that Valerie was the werewolf who had infected Shannon. {endif}You didn't know what to expect anymore.

"Who else could it be?" Andrew was furious.

"I don't know, but it must be one of those pure werewolves. You should know that." Again, Valerie was not speaking in a defensive tone. You got a feeling that she didn't very much care about clearing herself of suspicion.

Andrew kept holding the revolver for several seconds, gritting his teeth, conflicting before he finally lowered the gun. "Get out of my sight. But if I know it was really you, you're dead." He left after an angry remark.

Valerie didn't say anything but just took a glance at you before she left. There was so much to process that you didn't even have time to think about what just happened and what that meant.
