--Tutorial; Build Progress Example--
Well dear readers, writers, and possible Contractors; I figured I would do another tutorial showing perhaps a bit more indepth example rather than rattling off things and pages and nouns at you. And of course this will be done with the Official Catalog found here; https://official-waifu-catalog.neocities.org/
Of course this is based off my own understanding and way of going through the Catalog so this isn't meant to be the only way to do it, just an example. So pulling back from the last chapter, we were left with the understanding that making a build looks a little something like this.
- Step 1) Determine your Intensity/Difficulty
- Step 2) Select your starting World and Budget (either the Pre-Made Budget options or the Catalog's)
- Step 3) Pick an Origin, yourself or another character
- Step 4) Purchase your Binding and Lures
- Step 5) Purchase upgrades, Companions and extras from the catalog.
- Step 6) Finalize any purchases and upgrades.
So let's get started.
Step 1) Determine your Intensity/Difficulty

So to begin with, we have to get to Intensity. All the big options such as that, worlds, companions, etc are found at the top. Some will display smaller sub options under the big ones when selected but that's the main way of moving around the site. For now we just want to figure out Intensity so click that and scroll down...

That's a lot to process. This is the Quick Intenstity gauges. Here you can flick on just what you want and get moving but for new contractors, we suggest you scroll down to read up on just what they actually do. Do note; the site is a little finiky about using both the quick settings and scrolling down and selecting. For our example build though we shall keep it pretty simple. We'll up our Intensity overall to 6 or so.

So our Values now look like this. As you can see we start getting Credit for Captures of Tier 3 and Sells of Tier 2. Example of Tier 3 would be Poison from Final Fight/Street Fighter(HMMM) and Tier 2 is Delia Ketchum(aka Ash's Mom from Pokemon).
This however tanked our Budget as you see. Starting in a DR5 world(Example, My Hero Academia at the START of the story) would give us 75 Credit to play with compared to a normal one of 225. Ouch. But we have our Intensity now. Oh and we won't list out all the options selected. Instead we'll show you; while on the site click the arrorws down at the bottom to pull up your personal info device and...

There we go. Remember to check your info down there rather than jumping around from place to place. You can use this to look up just what we took for this example build but we made it a little harder to move from world to world and increased the danger. Next step is;
Step 2) Select your starting World and Budget (either the Pre-Made Budget options or the Catalog's)
Let's keep this a bit simple. Select Worlds and get started.

You have a lot of ways of sorting through worlds. Names, Newer, Number of Targets, Set the range of Rating you want, go nuts. In Our case we'll just use the search bar and look for.... "Dead or Alive". It's a rather basic setting and low power, perfect for our idea and it's on the list. Note the ! mark on all the worlds though. This will pull up a break down of how many targets of each tier there are, and how much total Credit you can make by capturing, selling, or both. It also reflects your own Intensity settings so you won't have to crunch numbers.
Note the pencil icon though; this allows for editing a world but will split the entry off for personal use(a bit like the Add World option only letting you base it off an existing world). Use these if the world you want hasn't shown up in the index for one reason or another.
Now as for Credit..., we only start with 30 on our world. So let's just take the Tier 3: Basic Package that our Recruiter Jerynboe provided. Simply navigate to your smart device tab at the bottom again, and click the wrench icon.

Please NOTE The warning. This isn't something to be fiddled around with in the spirit of the Catalog/Writing/Build. This is simply something used to set correct refunds, bugs, set up and other errors. You could just give yourself infinite Credit here but that's not fun now is it?
Anyway you can simply give yourself extra credit this way till you hit the Premade Packaged Amount, or it might be better to use the Specific Credit Modifier and note/mark down just where you're getting those extra credits from. Since we'll going to 35 credit, we'll just mark it as "Jerynboe - Premade Package" and give ourselves 5 extra. Next step;
Step 3) Pick an Origin, yourself or another character
So Origin and well, We saw someone that could have a bit of promise when looking for Tier examples. So let's see how'll she'll do.

We will select Walk In which follows a character of our choice starting in their world, or the world we selected. In our case, we like the idea of Posion running around, possibly recruiting for a new Wrestling League she's setting up. Make sure to use the search bar to find the character in question you want if it's provided. And the Number deals with Tiers, though We are unsure how you can change Tier at the start(later on sure but at this step unsure). And make sure you Select/Lock in the choice, and deselect if you want another Origin Option. We could also Possess Poison with someone(usually a Contractor) and let her/them loose on another world but if you wanted to be Poison in Street Fighter, we'd use Substitute.
Origin selected, our next step is;
Step 4) Purchase your Binding and Lures
This is the big one and this is when you start making tough choices. More so for Our Build given the budget. Let's go over to the Binding page.

The main thing to note are the Binding and Lure sections, we'll ignore the others during this. Also, reminder, you're allowed only One Binding method at a time and start with "Empty Hand" which is basically no binding; just Lures, Heirtage, and other Methods including a Confession. If you want a Binding, you'll need to delete "Empty Hand" first to clear.
Now, just what to pick. Each one has their pros and cons but given our character, Poison, being a bit of a bad ass dominite femme fatale and a former gang member, we believe there's two good options for her. Jewelry, which would allow her to give her Retinue some nice spiked chokers to heel to her will(And maybe give them a figure better for the ring), or Tormentor's Toolbox, which would allow her to get some **** material on new recruits to get in the ring. Just for long enough to pay off the **** of course, surely.
The other three don't really fit in with the idea we are forming with Poison. Tattoo maybe but the others are a bit too out there for our idea. The other three, Symbiote, Other Controls, and Space Truckin'; these are a bit too out there as well and maybe too complex for a basic Build so we will ignore them(Feel free to check them out if they sound intresting to your idea though).
Of the two, and given that it IS free, we will be taking Tormentor's Toolbox for this build. And because we have limited funds, we'll skip on Lures. Our next step is;
Step 5) Purchase Talents, Defenses, Perks, Companions and extras from the catalog.
Well we still have 35 Credit to spend. And there's honestly not a lot we can pick up right now. So we'll go straight to Talents and Perks. Now, yes, Heritage is an option, which we suggest you look at for your own ideas. It's just None of them function well with the idea of a Poison ran Wrestling League, they're a bit too fantasical, and are out of our price range(The cheapest is 60 credit). Rather than covering them more than this, we'll just move on to the things we can pick up.

Time to buy some assistance in our journey. Poison is already a skilled fighter, but Martial Talent will allow her to keep up with new recruits just fine, and Administrative Talent will help with keeping up the paper work of the league. From there we go over to the Other selection and pick up a couple things to make going through worlds and having some... post fight fun, easier. Paper Trail, Universal Calibration, Sexual Calibration and Fertility Calibration I; these are picked up.
And we are now broke. As such we are done with our spending spree and are ready to go into writing our story with this as our baseline start. If we had more credits one way or another, picking up a Lure or two would be helpful(Zenryoku Zenkai gets our vote), Communication Talent could also be of use, and one - two cheap companions to get the league started wouldn't go wrong either.
Opening the smart device will give you a short hand of your build. Along with clicking the triple bars at the bottom will allow you to save your build, and show it off.

This is our finalized build ready to go, though we could go back and change a few things like different talents, world, character, and other things but this is a solid example. But just as a final example/step, let's cover Companions.
Step 6) Managing Companions
First at the top of the Companions section you'll see the usual filter and search options. Along with Add Companions, which allows you to add and save companions to the site..., locally. These added Companions won't show up for others, though can be suggested through the site's discord. We suggest looking up the proper way of doing that rather than barging in and asking "Where's X from J Media?", but simply know if the Catalog doesn't have someone you wanted, there's no problem in adding them for your own usage. But onto the meat of this section we need someone to start with....

Since we're in Dead or Alive, Tina works. She'll be a good target for Poison anyway. Let's go over a few things; The tags below reflect a bit of the character, Tina being able to teach wreslting to other members, a combant meaning she fights, is a social energic woman and so on. Some of these can be important for other mechanics such as Magical Girl or Amazon we believe but Tina lacks those. Simply keep these in mind for writing, or to help narrow down searches.
Clicking the double tags to the left of her name shows off her defense tags, which are what the character comes with and offers to make buying said defense cheaper. Now the options;
- Buy: We pass a copy of the character in question into your possesion. Usually clones so if we buy Tina and stay in this world.... there's Two Tinas.
- Yoink: The Tina of this world/verison of the world starts with us and is bound. If Drop-in or Walk-in and start in a new world, individuals from the starting homeworld may be dragged along and inducted into your using this perk. Example; we can Yoink Cammy from Street Fighter. Cost increased.
- Yeet: We have already bought Tina but she's let loose into the world, usually in day's Travel from where we start. Tina is semi bound; if we or a member of our retinue bumps into her, Tina will slowly be captured as per the General Binding Rules found under the Binding section. Cheaper Cost, easier to capture... but have to find Tina first, and since we've already paid for her, we dont' get credit for capturing her properly.
- Used: Another Contractor had captured and modified this version of Tina only to lose her for any number of reasons. Buying Used will present a few random prices but the higher the price the higher Tier the resulting Tina is as she'll keep any non-baseline abilities she was trained in using her former contractor’s Talents, equipment she wield, Added Potential, Template Stacks, Power Swaps, or Heritage upgrades applied to herself. Defenses, Talents, and Binding benefits were removed though and she'll have some sort of trama, defect, or issue to deal with.
Or because this build is broke, we just capture her using our Binding method. The capture price will be listed based off the Intensity level you have so for us, Tina gives us One credit when we capture her. And going down to our smart device...

We can make notes, edit the tier of our Retinue as we get stronger, or just get rid of those we don't want or grew bored of. Tina given our settings, sells for 3 credit, meaning if we Capture then Sell, we'd be in the bank for 4 credits. Repeat as often as you want with other characters till you had your fill and 'retire' or go to another world.
And that's about it. There's more complexities within the Catalog but this more indepth look should be enough to get you started on your own journey and or story.
