Chapter 382 by sexyslave sexyslave

Huh, weird! What could have caused this?

Turns out, someone held a grudge!

"Well, Bakugo, as it turns out, pissing off Pro Heroes, particularly ones in the top ten, is often detrimental to one's career prospects," Aizawa informed Bakugo dryly.

"...what the heck did you do?" Kirishima asked, gaping at Bakugo, who stiffened, clearly already having some idea.

"What do you think he did?" Momo snarked as she reclined in her chair, clearly amused. "He was his usual self, only this time, in front of a pro with influence."

"SHUT IT, PONYTAIL!" Bakugo roared, essentially demonstrating Momo's point wonderfully. "I said nothing to that literal giant flaming asshole that wasn't true!" He put some more yen into the swear jar as he stated this.

The class paused as they processed Bakugo's statement. Particularly the "literal giant flaming" part. The only one in the top ten who fit that description to a t was... "He pissed off fucking ENDEAVOR!?" was the thought that went through just about everyone's heads. That was practically career suicide, and probably would be literal if Endeavor didn't respect the law! Sure, they knew he mouthed off to Endeavor while fighting Todoroki, they all saw him shouting that part when Todoroki started using his fire, but now they were wondering if something else happened. If he was willing to screw someone's career over just someone mouthing off briefly to him when he was shouting... encouragement to his son during a match, they probably would have heard similar stories over other minor slights.

Naturally, Todoroki had enough information to put things together. Bakugo had told him during their fight that his father had tried to put Bakugo up to making him use his fire, and while Bakugo was in fact trying to do just that, he vehemently denied doing it for his father. He assumed Bakugo must have said some things to Endeavor that got under the man's skin. "...Bakugo, did you happen to overhear a certain conversation between myself and Midoriya?" Todoroki asked.

Bakugo scoffed. "Yeah, I did, what of it?" Izuku's eyes widened. If Bakugo heard all of that, and called Endeavor out on his behavior to his face... yeah, that would do it.

"At any rate, what happened was that apparently, the Number 2 Hero had some sort of encounter with Bakugo in the halls during the Festival, and some words got exchanged, words that apparently prompted Endeavor to send out an email to multiple pros, warning them that during his brief interaction with Bakugo, he was reminded of several villains he had brought in. Essentially, he implied that Bakugo was a future villain waiting to happen, and that no Pro should ever want to risk associating with him. That email got forwarded by the pros Endeavor had initially contacted to other pros, and so on until pretty much every pro in the country recieved it and decided against extending offers to the winner of the Sports Festival, as if someone they interned did in fact become a villain, that would potentially harm their own stocks," Aizawa summed up. "And that, class, is a wonderful object lesson in why one's image matters in our line of work."

(Accidentally published this early earlier instead of just saving the draft, for those of you who got the notification, or saw the previous draft before I deleted it, sorry.)

How does Bakugo take this?
