Yoda was speaking in his mind as Xander looked down at his blonde friend and not so secret crush. And was there anything to stop him from asking Buffy out?

Outside of her turning him down in the past.

But it was different now. With his power he could tilt things in his favor.

Do or do not...

"Say, uh, Buff, you are single... I am single..." he haltingly began.

When she looked up at him with that alarmed face, Xander knew it wasnt going to happen just on its own.

Oh, he was going to hell for doing this.

"Well, would you rather try dating me and being blissfully happy in every which way a woman can be blissfully happy or instead live a life of being miserable and never dating and making an emotional connection with anyone."

The tranced blank slate state returned and Buffy just stared ahead at nothing as his power went to work. Xander waited anxiously, he honestly wasn't sure what Buffy was going to choose. This could explode in his face.

Softly Buffy answered. "Blissfully happy."

Xander stifled a whoop of joy. She chose him! He and Buffy were going to be a thing! It worked!

As the trance faded Buffy gave Xander a small smile and reaching out took his hand in hers, "Y'know what Xand? Let's... let's give it a try this time. See what happens."

"Y-y-yeah. Lets." Xander couldnt help the waver in his voice, he was overwhelmed with emotion. It was finally happening. He was going to get to live the dream of being with Buffy.

Buffy gave his hand a small squeeze and shot him a wink with her very winning smile. He smiled like an idiot right back at her and reciprocated the hand squeeze.

His moment of triumph was derailed by a voice from behind him.

"Xander? Buffy? What's with the hand hol... wait, wait a minute, what's going on here?"
