Try to lie, but fail miserably

“Can she come with us?”

You asked, much to your fathers surprise. Instead of his usual disapproving look of shame, he wore almost an appearance of anger.

“No, it is out of the question”

“But she betrayed her people for me, they’ll kill her if they find her!”

“That’s something she will have to handle, alone. Now, we are leaving”

He tried to pull you with him again, but as you stopped him, you made your best attempts to lie. However, unable to think of anything good, you just tried your best to convince him.

“I already told you, I trust her with my life, isn’t that enough?”

“No”

Again, he pulled you with him, and once again, Blue attempted to follow, and as he stopped, again, so did Blue. But this time, you father seemed to notice something in Blues reaction. Gently letting your hand go, your father went up to Blue, inspecting her reaction as he gently pushed her shoulder, or at least, their lack of reaction. As he pushed her, she just let him, before moving her feet to keep balance, not interpreting it as rude or even interesting, just trying to not let the push knock them over.

Then, your father turned to you and returned to his usual disapproving look of shame.

“Explain”

He didn’t seem concerned with Blue being a threat anymore, even letting her be directly behind him as he demanded the truth. You hoped it wouldn’t come to this, but as you stood under his piercing gaze, the truth came out.

“She’s my… uh… tamed pet”

Your response didn’t seem to please him any, as he only further intensified his glare.

“Not her, but the monster inside her”

But this answer seemed to raise an eyebrow, before he turned to look at Blue once again. She just stared back, before giving a little wave.

“The day Pochi died, this slime came up to me, and after feeding it some of that bear, it let me tame it”

“So when you told me that you tamed that wolf, it was actually this slime?”

“Yes, but I didn’t know it could take over people until she freed me from my cell”

“So, this slime is inside her body and controlling her actions? Interesting”

He stroked his beard, looking Blue over as she stood there calmly.

“Mostly, but it seems talking is a little too much for the moment. Now, can she come home with us?”

He stood in contemplation, before nodding his head.

“As your tamed monster, they cannot disobey you, so this will be fine. But, they need a cloak to hide their face, we can’t be seen bringing a dark elf into our home”

He said, before taking off his cloak and handing it to Blue. It was way too big for her small frame, so it was easily able to hide her features.

“If anyone asks, you found them in the woods and offered them the night. Is that understood?”

You nodded, and as you did, he handed you your bow from his back, newly re-stringed. As you held it, you felt a sense of happiness, seeing that piece of you brought back to life.

“Thank you!”

You cried out, as you gave him the biggest hug you could.

“I’m just happy you’re okay”

He said, almost squeezing the life out of you with one hand.

Without any arrows to test out, you sufficed with simply giving the string a tug, content with the high resistance it gave. Securing it to your back, you followed your father, as you resumed the trip back to town.
