Try to figure out the Goddesses’ plan.

As Athena and Aphrodite smirk at you and Melody bites her lip in worry, your mind races to try to predict your opponents’ strategy.

Athena’s out first, and she seems to be the better trained of the two. She’s not staying fresh to bail out Aphrodite if she gets in a jam, which means she really doesn’t expect her partner to have to worry too much. And from what you know of them, Athena seems to want to stay focused on winning while Aphrodite prefers to enjoy herself in the ring and put on a show for the crowd.

So...

“Here’s my guess,” you confide quietly to Melody. “I think they’re trying to hit us with a one-two punch. Athena pulls off a quick takedown on whoever faces her, probably a submission hold or a KO if she can manage it. Then while the opponent is hurt and disoriented, Aphrodite comes in and dominates them for more points. Then if we manage to tag out, they repeat the process on the other one while the first partner is still demoralized and recovering.”

Melody is opening her mouth, probably to ask what she should do about that, when a buzzer goes off. It’s time to choose your first contender.
