Truly Deborah

Slipping the headphones onto Deborah's head, Caroline clicked something on them. While her future mother made an attempt to push her away, she was unsuccessful in that endeavor.

"Just listen, mom." she continued and rejoined Carol at the edge of the room. Smiles forming on their faces, the mother wasn't sure how to feel in that moment.

Eyelids growing heavy, Deborah let sleep take her in. Yet within her mind, she found herself bombarded with images and sounds.

'You wanted this.'

Memories surged through her head. Days spent seeing other mothers getting treated to their grandchildren while she got nothing of the sort.

'You want to be an elderly lady.'

Once in a while, Delia would go and help at the Nursing Home. Everyone there seemed so happy, a stark contrast from her eternally gloomy mood at all times.

'You chose to become like this.'

It had taken quite a bit of work to even schedule all these surgeries. If anything, Caroline Maple had been quite helpful in getting everything sorted out.
