During the Decepticon vs Autobot war on Earth, the defeated Megatronus was able to avoid his complete destruction in Transformers: Robots In Disguise by tapping into another timeline to try and bring out another version of himself in an earlier time. But this backfired when Megatronus's mental transfer was interrupted by a rumbling from Atlas (G1) that was displaced from his original position in place of the tapped-into timeline's Unicron that took up Atlas's spot. The 3 timelines couldn't coincide, and caused all that energy to be focused on past past of the Transformers: Prime timeline during the Transformers: Prime ark. The energy was so intense that a nearby dimension vibrated in the dimensional tongue for universes, saying how it would be willing to offset that damage, although something from its variant of Earth would leak in. The Transformers: Prime universe agreed, eliminating Megatronus for good and creating a bridge that an evolutionary strain of humanity could leak in, using the dying embers of Megatronus to change the evolution further and allow it to include Cybertronians in the mix that humans were about to undergo.

The change was so unstable that it afflicted those closest to those most relevant to Megatronus's ending. That meant that, since all the other transformers from Transformers: Robots In Disguise were absent on Earth, Bumblebee and his companions were the most afflicted.

The changes weren't immediate, first, it was a changing of inhibitions, libido, stamina, etc. The first ones to show the results of this were Jack, Miko, Ralph, and June.
