Chapter 3
by gunde
Where does she decide to go?
To the city
Druuna began to walk towards the city, moving over the barren landscape.
After half an hour of walking, she had reached inside the city, moving across the worn tarmac, looking up in awe at the tall towers made out of iron, concrete and stone, that seemed to reach all the way up to the sky.
She kept moving through the junk-filled streets, looking with interest at the various boxes, pipes and scrap metal.
The amount of junk grew as she moved on, the tall buildings beginning to block out the sun, and Druuna climbed over the bigger pieces of junk, many of which were old stone-pillars and what she recognized as cars, undoubtedly beyond repair.
Soon, she came to a square, where the ground became less riddled with junk, and stepped out onto it.
From there, Druuna could make out that the street diverged into two, one way leading westwards, while the other stretched towards the south.
If she headed west, she would be moving towards the water, where she knew that much of the goods had been brought in back in the times before the Great Disaster.
On the other hand, the south seemed to be the location of the city’s centre, where most of the commerce had taken place.
She also looked at the buildings around the square, some of which seemed to be in good enough shape for her to explore them.
Down which street does Druuna wander? Or does she walk inside the buildings instead?
