To Late

Looking around them, I managed to smile his way before looking briefly around us, my gaze landing on the woman who caught me twice, and seeing the confirmation I needed; she was not surprised like the others, but ecstatic. Did she have a hand in this? I pause, resisting the urge to sigh, turning back his way, and find myself relaxing; while that was not the plan, I still felt it best not to disappoint them.
