Chapter 7
by croland
What do Julia and Amanda have in store for the former First Lady?
Time to set Virginia loose
"Virginia Pottsfield, it's a _pleasure _to meet you." Julia said, trying to suppress a sly grin.
Julia was one of only two people left in the world who remembered that this woman had ever been the First Lady. Julia still remembered seeing her standing behind Jack during the inauguration. She had never liked the woman. Everyone knew, or used to know, that it was Virginia's rich family that had bought Jack Mansfield his first election. Julia used to hate the woman for that, but she supposed she should be grateful to the woman now. Still, it was hard to suppress the jealousy of looking at this woman that Jack had chosen to marry all those years ago. Especially since she still looked stunning.
"What the hell am I doing here?!" Virginia said, as President Mansfield excused the secret service. "Why did you bring me here?"
"Ah yes, Ms. Pottsfield, I'm sorry for the confusion, I believe some of this may have inadvertently been my fault. However Mr. President if you will allow me, I can make sure that this matter is settled." the former Amanda said.
"Wait, didn't we go to college together?" Jack said, looking over Virginia.
"I think so, but... I think..." Virginia started.
"Sweetheart, please, just listen to my friend. I know this is all very confusing, but I know she can help. As your wife please, just trust me, this is all going to be resolved very quickly." Julia said, stroking her husband's arm. She smiled with pride as she felt him noticeably start to calm down.
'Amanda' took out the stickers and was already scribbling on one. As soon as it was out the mood in the room calmed down.
"Would you like to do the honors Julia?" 'Amanda' said.
"Aw you still are my friend." Julia said reading the sticker and grinning more than ever.
"I may have an exponentially higher intelligence quotient than I had at the start of the day, with a greatly reduced personality, however, I will always be your friend." 'Amanda' said.
It was meant to be reassuring, but it reminded Julia of everything that had already changed. It reminded her of the old Amanda, of their old and simple lives. That was only a few hours ago. Now they had both been changed by the stickers. It wasn't too late to go back to the way things had been.
But then Julia thought of what her friend had said. 'Amanda' hadn't been lying about her assessment. The two of them had always wanted to work in politics and public policy. Now they both were in a position to make real change. 'Amanda' had a plan to save everyone, to fix everything, to take over the world.
Julia didn't want to go back to being the powerless naive broke girl she had been.
She strode across the room to Virginia who stood mute as she looked at the sticker with only mild interest.
It read Hello My Name Is... Virginia Pottsfield, senior advisor to the First Lady (totally loyal to Julia Summers-Mansfield). Julia noted that 'Amanda' had been making the print on the stickers more complicated, and exact with each one.
"I am testing out a hypothesis." 'Amanda' replied to the unspoken question. Julia turned to her, stunned. "No I do not possess telepathy. However your thoughts were clear based on several dozen microexpressions, body language, context, and my own personal knowledge of you. Now let's see what the result is. Julia would you do the honors of waking up your new confidant?"
Julia straightened up and looked Virginia in the eyes. "Please tell me your name, and your occupation."
"I am your senior advisor, Mrs. Summers-Mansfield. It is my honor to serve the office of FLOTUS, and my own personal pleasure to be of assistance to you Mrs. Summers-Mansfield. You know I would do absolutely anything you needed of me." Virginia said with a smile newly plastered on her face.
How does Julia want to use her new assistant?
