What will happen next?

Time For Another Date

The next morning, Sharon was the first to wake up. She looked over at the bedside table and saw that it was later than she had hoped to be getting up. She started to move, which woke Patrick up as well.

“Good morning.” Patrick said.

“Morning. I hope you don’t think I am trying to run out on you, but I really need to be getting home.” Sharon said as she crawled out of bed and started to get dressed.

“You can’t run out on me if we aren’t doing anything serious.” Patrick said as he started getting dressed as well.

“I guess you have a point. I did have a good time. Hopefully we can do it again.” Sharon said.

“Yeah. That would be fun. If you give me a few minutes, I will give you a ride home.” Patrick said.

“I think I will just walk. I could use the air before having to deal with my mom.” Sharon said and Patrick nodded.

“Okay. Well, I will at least walk you downstairs.” Patrick said as both of them made it out of his room and downstairs.

When they got downstairs, Patrick saw that his parents were in the den watching television. They must have heard both of them come down the stairs. “Hey Sharon, would you like to join us for breakfast?” Josephine asked as she got up and started to make her way to the kitchen.

“No thanks, Mrs. Moore. I need to get home. Thanks for the offer though.” Sharon said.

“Well, it is good to see you dear. Don’t be a stranger.” Josephine said.

“I won’t. See you later.” Sharon said as she gave Patrick a kiss on the cheek and then was out of the door.

“So, how was the party?” Claude Moore asked as he entered the kitchen and didn’t mention that the girl had spent the night.

“It was fun. It was a good time after the first week of school.” Patrick said.

“I am glad that you had fun. So, what are your plans for today?” Josephine asked.

“Nothing until dinner time. Asa and I are going to dinner and then a movie.” Patrick said.

“Wow. Two girls in two nights. I never thought I would see the day.” Claude said.

“What? Me going on a date or me having two dates in two nights?” Patrick asked.

“The two girls in two nights. There was never a doubt that you would get a date.” Claude said.

“Are you sure about this Patrick? Why do you need two girls?” Josephine asked.

“It isn’t like that, mom. None of us are dating. It was originally Asa and Sara’s idea. They wanted to get me out of my shell, so they said they would go on dates with me and get me some experience before I went out with someone for real. Sharon was just a spare of the moment thing. She wasn’t even planned, but she heard about the thing with Sara and Asa so she wanted to join in.” Patrick said.

“Hmm. That’s not a bad idea. I thought you were actually dating both of them behind each other’s back. I can get behind this though.” Josephine said.

“Glad to know that you have so much confidence in my dating, mom.” Patrick said sarcastically.

“What can I say? The only girl you have ever dated was Lisa. You need to get out there more, Patrick and this looks like it is working in your favor.” Josephine said.

“Give the boy a break, Josephine. He will get there when he is ready.” Claude said.

“Thanks dad. So, what do you guys have planned for today?” Patrick asked.

“Oh, we are going out with some friends tonight. Nothing special. We are just going out to eat and then we will come back home. Hopefully we can hangout at the restaurant before coming home.” Josephine said.

“Who are you guys going with?” Patrick asked.

“The Strattons, Bishops, Chapmans, and Goldbergs.” Claude said.

“Sounds like fun. I hope you guys have a good time. You don’t get to do this that often.” Patrick said and his parents nodded as Josephine went about making breakfast.

They sat down and ate breakfast and continued to talk about nothing that was too important. They found themselves laughing a lot and having fun while they were together. Something finally clicked in Patrick’s mind once he realized what time it was.

“Hey. Where is Sue?” Patrick asked about his younger sister.

“She had a party with her group of friends last night as well. I am hoping that Sam kept her straight. I don’t know why Sue can’t be more like you and Debbie. I love Sue, but she sure does know how to find trouble.” Josephine said.

“Well, I guess we ran out of luck with our older two children. We were bound to get a wild one sooner or later.” Claude said.

“I guess you have a point.” Josephine said with a shrug.

“She’s not that bad. I mean she annoys the heck out of me, but we get along well enough.” Patrick said.

“I was always so surprised how well the two of you got together growing up.” Josephine said.

“I think Debbie is better for her though.” Patrick said.

“Now, them two being close is the one that I am really surprised with. They have some things in common, but what they don’t, you would think, would make them both fight like cats and dogs.” Claude said.

“I think it has something to do with the fact that Debbie always helped her when she was having problems. It made Sue not give her as hard of a time. Of course Sue annoys the heck out of Debbie too, but they get along good enough.” Patrick said.

“Well, what is it that makes you two so close?” Claude asked.

“I think it has to do with being so close to the same age. We have a lot in common in that way.” Patrick said.

“Good point.” Claude said.

“So, what movie are you going to see tonight?” Josephine asked.

“We talked about some movies, but I want to see what all is on before we make up our minds.” Patrick said.

“That is the way to do it. You don’t want to make the wrong decision by deciding too soon.” Claude said.

“I don’t know what Asa is into, but it is probably better not to pick an action movie.” Josephine said.

“Yeah. I don’t think that will happen unless she decides she wants to see an action movie. I know we need to pick something that we will both like.” Patrick said.

“Smart man.” Claude said.

“I knew I raised you right.” Josephine said.

“Hey, what about me?” Claude asked.

“I guess you helped some.” Josephine said with a smile toward her husband.

“Oh, I see how it is.” Claude said back to his wife.

“Anyway, I am going into the other room. This is starting to sound a lot like foreplay and that is not something that I want to see.” Patrick said and Josephine threw a piece of bread at him.

Claude looked at his wife and shrugged and looked toward the stairs and the only thing that Josephine did was shake her head. Not that she didn’t want to have sex, they just had a lot to do around the house before they went out to eat with their friends later that night.

Patrick went into the den and found something on the television that he wanted to watch. He got a few texts while he was there, one of them being Asa setting up everything for later that night.

As the day went along, Patrick did some stuff around the house to help his parents out, but it was quickly getting close to the time he was going to have to leave and pick up Asa. He decided that it was time to go and get a shower and get dressed for his date. He didn’t do anything special. He just put on a polo shirt and a pair of jeans, with his normal shoes.

Once he was done getting ready, he made his way downstairs and saw that his parents had already left for their dinner. He grabbed his keys and headed out to his car and once he was inside, he drove toward Asa’s house.

It wasn’t a long drive to get there, but it was far enough that he had time to think about what could happen tonight. He had always had fun with Asa, so he didn’t have a doubt that they would have fun. He was nervous though and he didn’t really know why. He had known Asa for years and he had never been nervous around her before. It must have something to do with the fact that this was sort of like a date, when it had never been like that before with them.

“Get yourself together man. It’s just Asa.” Patrick said to himself.

He knew that he was being crazy and he knew that he had nothing to worry about. He finally made it to Asa’s house and when he was getting ready to get out of the car, he shook himself one last time to get rid of the nerves. He made his way up the sidewalk that led up to Asa’s house and soon enough he made it to the door. He stood there and collected himself before raising his hand and knocking on the door.

“Here we go.” Patrick said to himself as he waited for the door to be answered.

How will the date with Asa go?
