Chapter 3

What's next?

Things don't quite go as planned...

"One ticket for "Alone", please." Lauren asked the geeky eighteen-year-old girl at the box office.

"Sorry, Ma'am." The cashier said with a squeaky voice. "That one's sold out for today."

Lauren sighed. "Very well, then I'll take one for "Guts and Glory 2'."

"That's no longer playing, Ma'am." The girl responded, "Management just forgot to take down the sign."

"Okay..." Lauren said, starting to get annoyed, "How about "The Maze'?"

"Sold out."

"'Mind Games'?"

"Sold out."

"'Terror Ranch'?"

"Not out yet."

"'10002 Ways To Get Your Ex Back'?"

"Sold out."

"'Two Hearts, One Soul'?"

"Came and went."

"'My Fat Loser Best Friend's Italian Funeral'?"

"Sold out."

"Sold out?!" Lauren balked in shock, "But that's this summer's biggest flop! And it scored 0% on Rotten Tomatoes. How is it sold out?!"

"I couldn't possibly tell you, Ma'am." The girl said with a shrug.

"Then spare me the trouble, because I am NOT going to go home after driving all the way here on my day off!" Lauren snapped angrily, "What movie isn't sold out and still playing?!"

--

Lauren muttered angrily to herself as she handed the doorman her ticket, tapping her foot impatiently. According to the girl in the box office, the only movie that was still playing had had the least amount of tickets sold today was... Ugh! "The Little Unicorn Comes Home". A kiddie movie.

She just spent $25 to go watch a cartoon! And it wasn't even one from Disney, DreamWorks, or Illumination, either. It was from one of those independent film studios, and everyone knew how those rarely became successful.

Nonetheless, Lauren took her ticket stub as the doorman pointed out her theatre. The woman huffed as she marched towards the concession stand angrily.
