Chapter 4

What happened to her clothes?

They were ruined

While her body grew, her clothes did not. They tore at the seams when they could no longer stretch, and her green tunic fell off her adult form, pooling around her feet, looking all the world like the discarded cocoon of a newly emerged butterfly. Saria stood in the open field, as naked as a newborn, which was only fitting because she was reborn.

She placed a hand to cover herself between her legs and felt herself blushing as she considered if and how to cover her breasts, then she decided not to bother. Who was going to see? Her fairy, Shea? Her child's body had been a secret to be kept, but this new, adult body was something to be discovered, so she set about discovering it.

She ran through the grass, feeling the sun on her bare skin. Had the sun always been so bright? No. In the forest, the ground was always shaded by the trees, but the field was as naked as she was. She did a cartwheel—or at least tried to. Her limbs where too long and the proportions were off, and she fell rolling to the ground, laughing.

"Hey!" her fairy said, voice like a jingling bell. "Are you okay?"

Saria stretched out on the ground. "I don't think I've ever been better, Shea."

"Aren't you worried?"

Saria rolled her eyes and smiled. Fairies were always worrying. It was practically their job. "Oh, I'll worry later. Let me have this."

"But you're clothes are gone."

"And worrying about them won't bring them back." She held a hand up in the air, and Shea perched on her finger. "Besides, I have others."

"In your home in the middle of the village," Shea said, "where everyone you know will see you naked if you try to get to them. Which would be pointless, because they no longer fit you."

Oh.

Oh, dang it.

She sat up and Shea fluttered away. What was she going to do about clothes? Her tunic was ruined, and she doubted that anyone in the Kokiri Village had one her size. She could wrap herself up in a bedsheet, but that was it.

But out here, this land was full of big people wearing big people clothes. Maybe if she found one of them, a nice stranger would let her wear something. And if Saria happened to find some clothes unattended, well, this was kind of an emergency.

She returned to the remains of her tunic, picked up her ocarina, and made her decision.

What happens next?
