Chapter 5 by Trom1806 Trom1806

What will Nova, Stella and Ember do next?

They need to organize the use of this useful discovery.

What Nova, Stella and Ember found in the wastelands is of great value to the settlement of The Warren.

The three companions made a logical decision to return to The Warren as quickly as possible to report their useful find.

Indeed: a derailed train with many useful things inside is important information for elder Rynok and Zephyr.

Unfortunately, the three persons will clearly not be able to pick up all these useful things and bring them to the settlement. Their physical capabilities are simply not enough for this.

Therefore, the sooner elder Rynok gives the order to send more numerous groups to this place, the better.

Approximately these were the thoughts in Nova's head. She easily convinced her two companions of the need to quickly return and tell about the successful find.

However, Nova did not express some of her thoughts...

"This train crashed and derailed... This is a huge ancient technology, inside which many valuable things were preserved... But why has no one from the wastelands residents taken all these valuable things over the years? Is there some kind of catch?" - that's what she was thinking.

Vague premonitions of risk and problems did not leave Nova's mind.

However, these doubts and anxious thoughts did not prevent her from maintaining a calm and decisive appearance, giving orders to her two companions during the journey through the steppe and desert areas of the wastelands.

Nova had a fairly high status in the settlement of The Warren. A trusted person and advisor to chief-researcher Zephyr. And Zephyr himself reports only to elder Rynok.

Nova was sincerely passionate about the activities of Zephyr in the field of studying exemplars of ancient technology. This is quite logical: she saw how the life of her tribe of rabbit-nomads changed after they began a settled life in the Warren and after mastering various useful technical devices based on the technologies of an ancient lost civilization.

Unlike many other tribes of rabbit-nomads, the inhabitants of the settlement of The Warren have become more food and water in recent years. Their homes are relatively safe.

From Nova's point of view, the conclusions are unambiguous.

Progress is a way to improve life and eliminate the threats and dangers of this world.

Anything that hinders progress must be eliminated.

Perhaps someone outside could call her desire to accelerate progress somewhat excessive and reckless...

But she is ready to defend her beliefs not only with words, but also with deeds.

Probably, self-confidence and steadfastness are the qualities that helped Nova acquire a relatively high status in the settlement of The Warren.

So, three rabbit scouts, straining their strength because of the heavy load (medicine, food, water, ammunition), walked among the rare steppe bushes, thickets of grass and miserable ruins of some ancient buildings covered with sand.

One of them - a young, outwardly attractive and short rabbit girl named Ember experienced conflicting emotions.

Her thoughts: "We found a place with many useful things... But in this destroyed train... There are many weapons... Do we need so many weapons? Will it not be dangerous? These weapons are based on ancient technologies, the significance of many of which we do not even suspect... What will Zephyr tell us when he finds out that we returned from a routine reconnaissance mission with such amazing results?"

Ember clearly has a sociable character, it is difficult for her to remain silent for a long time.

Therefore, she regularly chats with her two companions (except for those moments when Stella notices something ahead and makes a gesture indicating the need to maintain silence).

Ember is struggling to carry her load. She is the weakest and shortest of the trio. She is the last in the group.

Ahead of her is Stella, who tries to look around and notice landmarks in the area so as not to lose her way.

As she continues to walk, she slightly adjusts her backpack (which is filled to the brim with supplies) and her crossbow.

Even with Stella's efforts to choose a shorter route, the journey back to The Warren will take a long time.

It will probably take more than a day for the three rabbit scouts to walk.

And they will all need to be extremely careful.

After all, these three, weighed down with useful cargo, are a good target for that... or for those who want to hunt for prey.

Stella's phlegmatic nature allows her to be aware of potential dangers and not feel fear, apathy, or uncertainty. And her skills of pathindering allow her to plan the group's route, which so far allows them to avoid trouble. Stella, being an introvert, calmly ponders what has happened: "We were lucky. We found a lot of useful things. In order to take all these things and bring them to our settlement, we need to involve a much larger group in the work. However, there is no guarantee that by the time elder Rynok sends a larger group to the crash site, someone else will not appear in this place. In the wastelands, you must constantly be wary of competitors... Competitors, in order to get valuable supplies, can easily resort to the bloodiest actions... Ohhhh... When will this chatterbox-girl calm down and shut up!"

Stella looks disapprovingly at Ember, who continues to chat and complain about being tired.

Nova decisively says: "It is not time for a rest yet. We need to return to The Warren as soon as possible... So, we continue walking!"

So, the path of this trio of rabbits-scouts through the wastelands continues...

Where will the trio of rabbits-scouts girls come to next?
