They don't wake up in bed

As the first rays of brilliant sunlight hit Nadia's eyes, she blinked them open and smiled at the sounds of crickets nearby. She almost never got to see mornings like this, since she had to wake up at the crack of dawn on weekdays and spent her weekends in bed until noon. Waking up when the sun was still rising was rare, and she loved being able to see that.

She rolled over, taking in Alice's sleeping face as her vision adjusted. She swooned at her girlfriend's face, blissfully slumbering as she rested her arm over Nadia's shoulder. Nadia snuggled into her embrace, despite herself. It was Saturday, after all; they could afford to stay in bed for a little bit. Though she had to admit, it was rather nippy this morning. Had she forgotten to close the window?

Looking down at her feet, Nadia had to do a double take as she saw no blanket covering their nude bodies. That itself wasn't weird, but what they were laying on was. Instead of their mattress, both women were laid flat on a bed of grass, each blade pricking and poking at their uncovered flesh.

Lucidity finally coming back into her, Nadia pushed herself up and looked around them. Sure enough, there was no sign of their bed, their bedroom, their apartment, or anything recognizable to the woman who'd lived her whole life in cities. Instead, a verdant forest surrounded them, with trees as tall as their apartment building towering above the now-scared businesswoman. The chirping crickets she'd heard earlier suddenly registered much louder as she realized just where they were, or at least where they weren't.

Still in a state of shock, Nadia slowly tapped Alice's shoulder. The taller woman murmured in her sleep, mumbling something Nadia couldn't make up as she rolled over and put her hands under her head. "A... Alice... wake up..."

"Mmm... but it's Saturday..." Alice groaned as she sat up and rubbed her eyes. "I want to cuddle." As Alice reached over to Nadia, her eyes fluttered open and she smiled at her girlfriend's breasts, reflecting a bronze sheen in the bright sunlight. "See, even your girls want to stay in bed with me."

"That's gonna be a problem without a bed."

The tone in Nadia's voice woke Alice up a bit and she tried to shake the grogginess out of her head. As her eyes adjusted to the light, she looked around at what Nadia was so transfixed by. Her eyes widened at the sight of the forest around them, looking like something straight out of a fantasy story. "Wha- what happened. I-" She looked to her girlfriend, reflecting her shell-shocked expression. "Where are we?"

Nadia just looked up at the brilliant sky, taking in the foreign sights, sounds, and smells that were pelting her senses. At the drop of a hat, the two of them were in a completely foreign place without any idea how they got there and with no phones, money, maps, or (she looked down to confirm this) clothes. They were completely, absolutely, and utterly lost. And looking back at Alice, all Nadia could say was, "I don't know."
