Chapter 4 by Tyne Tees Books Tyne Tees Books

What do you think they did as soon as they got home?

They decided to chill before Alex arrived

When Jack, Wriggy and Toesy approached Jack's apartment, Jack took the keys out of his pocket and opened the door. He walked in and closed the door. Wriggy and Toesy were exhausted, so they decided to perch themselves onto the small stool in front of the sofa. "Hey umm...Jack? Can I...ask you something?" Wriggy asked, "Sure. What is it, Wriggy?" Jack replied. Wriggy was a bit confused by what Jack meant by "Independent Broadcasting Authority".

"Oh...um...well..." Jack began, "The IBA is well...it's a thing that...well, y'see, it was a...Maybe this programme will explain it better" Jack pointed to the TV which was playing an episode of Jack's favourite documentary series, The ITV Story.

"Created by what was left of the Independent Television Authority or ITA..." the TV said, "The IBA was established in 1972, under that year's Sound and Transmission Act. The IBA's job was similar to that of its predecessor, but now, the new entity could divest itself into other broadcasting ventures. Such as radio, transmitter sites and also the management of new advancements i-"

"Booooorrriinng" Toesy yawned as he grabbed the remote with his toes and changed the channel. Jack was utterly bemused by this, how could his own two feet have completely different interests than him? "Hey! I was watching that!" he scowled. "Well, we thought it was too boring. Besides..." Toesy explained, putting the remote down, "The things you watch are well...a bit...bland." How could they say such a thing?!

"BLAND?!" Jack raged, "It's not bland! It's highly educational and filled with information!" Toesy just rolled his eyes, "Yeah...for bland people. No offence." Jack gritted his teeth, "None...taken..." he snarled. Wriggy, being the peace-maker that he was, spread his big toe towards Jack and his little toe towards Toesy. "Now now..." he told them, calmly, "Let's not get into a fight...besides..." he then turned to Jack.

"You need to get ready for when this girl comes."

Jack suddenly snapped back to reality. "Oh Wombles, you're right!" And with that, Jack dashed upstairs to his room to put on some smart clothes. "Now...which shirt should I wear?..." He said, looking at the vast variety of shirts in his wardrobe. After shifting multiple ones aside, he finally found the perfect one. It was a very dark misty blue with 3 green lines and a large silver shape on it. "Aha!" He said, taking it out, "Nothing says smart like my Sky One shirt!"

He then looked down to his jeans, which he thought were fine as they are. After whipping off his old Tyne Tees shirt and putting on his Sky One...one, Jack then found his red leather jacket and put that on. The jacket did not have any kind of zip or buttons, to which, he was fine with.

But then...he moved his attention down to his feet. "Hmm..." he thought, "What shoes should I wear?" He crouched down as he examined his vast array of shoes. There were his red leather boots, his green wellies, his shiny black tap dancing shoes, his brown sandals, his black flowery flip flops with glittery toe loops and his favourite armadillo slippers.

"So much choice..." he thought to himself. But just then, his feet had an idea! "Maybe we could decide..." they announced. Jack wondered for a moment. "Well..." he told them, "There's quite a lot to choose from...it might be quite hard..." Toesy lunged forward, causing Jack to comedically fall backwards onto his bottom. "Pfft..." Toesy scoffed, "Hard? Puh-lease! We can choose in like..." Toesy then wiggled his toes as he did some maths. "2...multiply that by that...carry the 1..."

As Toesy was calculating what seemed to be a really easy sum, Wriggy helped Jack up by offering him his big toe. Jack grabbed it as Wriggy pulled him back up to a sitting position. "Divide that by 6..." then, Toesy's toes stopped wiggling. "No time at all!" he finished. Jack was utterly confused. He was normally the maths genius and he wanted to question Toesy on his calculations, but ultimately decided against it.

So, which footwear did Jack's feet pick?
