The week leading to the fashion show
The week leading up to the Empowering Fashion event was a whirlwind of preparations and rehearsals, with each day blurring into the next. After that quiet night at home, things had returned to a semblance of normalcy—or at least, what now passed for normalcy in your life.
Each day, you arrived at work, slipping back into the rhythm of your usual tasks, but there was always the undercurrent of anticipation as the fashion show drew nearer. Occasionally, at the request of your colleagues or when Lisa dropped by, you found yourself dressing up in different outfits. Whether it was a blouse and skirt combo or something more casual, you became accustomed to the playful comments and approving nods from your team.
Each time, you felt a mix of embarrassment and excitement, but also a growing confidence as you embraced the role that had been thrust upon you. Lisa would often dropped by and gave you more stuff, but you didn't have the guts to bring them home because of your mum's disapproval. So they was folded neatly around your desk.
As the week progressed, the focus shifted entirely to the fashion show. Lisa and Sarah took it upon themselves to prepare you thoroughly for the big day. They scheduled daily rehearsals, during which they coached you on how to walk with poise and grace, how to hold your head high, and how to strike the right balance between confidence and humility. They also went over various scenarios—what to do if something went wrong with your outfit, how to handle a wardrobe malfunction, and how to maintain your composure no matter what happened on stage.
Lisa was particularly meticulous, reminding you repeatedly of the importance of posture and eye contact. "You may not be a professional model, but you have something special, Alex," she said during one of the sessions. "You have a natural innocence that we want to highlight, so just be yourself and the audience will love you."
Sarah was equally supportive, often stepping in to demonstrate a walk or a pose. Her encouragement was invaluable, especially when the nerves started to creep in. "Remember, it’s all about having fun," she would say with a reassuring smile. "This is your chance to shine, so enjoy it."
There were two specific outfits that you were tasked with wearing during the show. The first was a school dress—a simple yet elegant piece that seemed to suit you perfectly. It was clear why you had been chosen for this look; being the youngest among the models, you could pull off the youthful vibe effortlessly. The dress was tailored to fit you snugly, with a modest neckline and a flared skirt that gave it a classic, timeless feel. Despite the initial discomfort of wearing something so distinctly feminine, you found that the dress felt almost natural after a few rehearsals. You could see yourself reflected in the mirror, looking every bit the part, and the thought of walking down the runway in it became less daunting with each passing day.
The second outfit was a sports attire, which required a bit more adjustment. It was a more dynamic look, meant to showcase both form and function. The outfit included a pair of fitted athletic shorts and a tank top, but the key piece was the padded sports bra you had to wear underneath. The padding was meant to give the illusion of a more athletic build, adding a subtle curve to your otherwise slender frame. The first time you put it on, you felt a bit self-conscious, but Sarah assured you that it looked great.
"Think of it as just another part of the outfit," she said, helping you adjust the straps. "The bra adds to the overall look, and you really pull it off well."
During the rehearsals, you practised walking and moving in sports attire, focusing on looking confident and comfortable. The padded sports bra was strange at first, but you gradually became accustomed to it, learning how to carry yourself with the added weight.
As the week progressed, the nerves began to settle, replaced by a growing excitement. Each day brought you closer to the event, and each rehearsal made you more confident in your ability to perform. Lisa and Sarah’s guidance had been invaluable, helping you transform from a **** participant into someone who was ready to step onto the runway with pride.
