What's next?

The two part ways for now

Stanley watched his new client (talk about a career shift for ol' Stan!) adjust her uniform, walking back into the building. "Boy, does she fill that out or what?" he whistled to himself appreciably. And she did. Even in the unbreathing, stifling synthetic polo, her body made notable curves in the fabric. Her ass, too, made for quite a sight in her straight legged, stained beige slacks.

She closed the door and he realized that he actually did have to be at work soon. He drove the rest of the way to his store. The prospect of retail didn't feel so bad, knowing that he had something new and exciting to do after. The hours couldn't pass fast enough. He arrived and put on his work hat, making sure his uniform was tidy, and then entered the store.

Behind the counter were two people he rarely got to see together: Keith and Alice. He supposed there were some upsides to picking up shifts, aside from boring things like rent money. Keith was Stanley's oldest friend, and the guy who got him the job. Keith was a major pervert, always sending Stanley his favorite porn videos. In fact, the first time he'd seen Claire's vid it was because Keith had sent him a link. He was cute enough, according to several female friends, with shaggy blond hair and a cherubic face, but every time he got close to a girl he'd say something stupid and pervy. Or if they could get passed that, he'd wear out a joke so much they'd flinch if something reminded them of it. Alice, on the other hand, was a new friend. She was about their age, and the daughter of the franchise owner. She always said she was saving up for college, but then she'd blow the money on a concert or a new game that she'd talk Stanley into buying so they could play together before she stopped playing and now Stanley was out the money with a crappy game that he had no one to play with and... Um. Anyway, as usual, she wasn't in uniform, with a pair of very short shorts and a band tee shirt for some ska group he's never heard of. He knew she'd also have on a pair of checkered Vans to match. Stanley always liked hanging out with her, and not just because the owner was nicer when she was around.

They didn't see him when he entered, apparently too heated in their conversation. Stanley wondered what it would be today.

"No, turning 'up' the AC makes it hotter, obviously. The temperature goes up," Alice said.

"We've been over this a million times. The thing going up is the AC, which blows out cold air. You're not paying any attention to the phrasing!" Keith shouted, tugging on his hair like he wanted to pull it out.

Stanley rolled his eyes. He could never tell if the two argued because they hated each other, or liked each other because they liked arguing so much. It was always a fun time to sit on the sidelines. He wished he had some popcorn.

"What's up, guys?" Stanley interrupted.

"The sky," the two said in unison, just because they knew it bugged him. By this point they wouldn't ask him his opinion, since they knew he wouldn't answer. For the record, if he would have answered, he'd have sided with Keith on this one, which was rare.

"Are you going to use that joke every single time?"

"Yes," they said, as if they'd been training in synchronized talking.

"Ugh, you're the worst. Hey Keith, you'll never guess who I just met. Claire fucking Davis." He waggled his eyebrows.

Keith almost slipped, spinning so hard to stare at his friend. "There's no way. She's a legend. Like, the not-real kind. I've spent literally days trying to track down what happened to her. I even paid a guy to..." he trailed off, realizing his audience. Coughing, he said, "where'd you find her?"

"Working at a fast food place, believe it or not. She said she was out of the game, but get this. I talked her into doing more."

"No fucking way," Keith said, staring at his friend like he was a superhero.

"This is a porn thing, isn't it?" Alice said, scrunching up her nose. "You guys are gross. I'm gonna go clean the restroom, since it's less disgusting than you."

As she turned to walk away, Keith smirked. "You're no better than us. I didn't want to say anything, but I saw what you were looking at on your phone. Want me to tell Stanley?"

Stanley was shocked, mostly at his friend's ability to keep the secret for so long. Nah, Keith had to be making this up. He snorted. "What, is she..?"

A/N: Well? How does he finish that sentence? Also, for the record, fuck fast food uniforms. I know some franchise owners allow jeans or whatever, but I'll never forgive mine for making me wear shitty thick polyester polo shirts in 100°F (like, 38°C) weather, in a hot kitchen.

What did he ask about Alice?
