The subway

(chapter originally by Faith on writing.com)

Ann felt her hands instinctively balling into fists again.

"The subway? The place that gets so many people coming and going that they literally hire Pushers to make sure everybody is packed in like sardines and there aren't any limbs hanging out of the doors. That sounds private to you?" Ann said through gritted teeth.

"I'm not suggesting we go at rush hour, Ann. No indeed! The trains are actually quite empty at certain times of night. I propose we convene at a station in the early morning- 3:30 AM or so." Yusuke said.

Ann made a face, but looked thoughtful. That wasn't a TERRIBLE idea, she had to admit. No matter where they went it almost certainly would have to be at night. But a subway was still a nexus of people getting around the city. Not the best place to conduct business either.

"There is an added advantage here. The subway also is very close to...that location we learned of recently. The one neither criminals nor the police can get to easily."

Ann blinked. Mementos was close to the Subway, for some reason. If there was an emergency, they could just warp in. Thanks to the way the otherworld worked, she could instantly recapture her modesty (albeit by popping into a still embarrassing cat suit). Shadows didn't crawl on the entrance area to Mementos, so they'd be safe....except...

"Uhhh, you forgetting Shiho here? We're not taking her down there!" Ann said pointedly.

"I don't intend to go there at all if we can avoid it. But in an emergency..." Yusuke trailed off.

"Not even then! Its dangerous! And...complicated!" Ann said.

"I'm sure you can trust her." Yusuke said.

"Not the point! I don't-" Ann began.

"Do I get a vote here?" Shiho piped up.

"Uh, Shiho, this must sound strange but-" Ann began.

"Look, you obviously don't want to talk about it and that's fine. But I'm sure wherever this place is you and Yusuke know your way around it well enough to keep me safe. Having an emergency exit sounds good to me!" Shiho said.

Ann sighed internally. Shiho couldn't possibly understand what she was saying. Of course, Shiho knew far more than she was letting on.

"Argh. Okay, just...explain the rest of the idea, okay? Where in the subway are you planning on doing this? How do you know its safe? Dangerous people like to hang out in a subway at night...them and the homeless. What's your big plan?"
