The plain girl

You turn away from the bikini babes. It's already tough to pick just one, and your curiosity is going to kill you if you ditch this quiet woman now.

"I think we should consider being slightly friendlier, since we've been talking for like ten minutes already." The pain spiked near the start, got lighter in the middle, and nearly vanished at the end. She was looking at you now. "I think that if you want to keep things light and casual, which you seem to, then we don't even have to exchange names."

There was a very mild spike of pain in the middle. Either that's exactly what she was thinking, or it helped to put an explanation before an idea.

"I think you should tell me, with brutal honesty, if that's what you want." Ouch ouch ouch ouch.

"No, I didn't want it light or casual, I wanted you to leave." She shifted uncomfortably in her chair and looked at her book again. "But somehow 'light and casual' seems OK, when I think about it. Although I'm already starting to kick myself for saying that out loud."

She looks up at you in a defiant glare, or she tries to. In truth, she looks nervous. You originally saw her as a more mature young woman who was holding herself to a higher standard than the chatty girls, but you realize now that she's still pretty young by most standards and she's not as composed as she appeared.

That almost-defiant stare is turning you on a little bit.

You're tempted to be aggressive with her and see how fast you can break down those walls, but practicing the subtle approach has made you feel powerful in a way that's hard to describe. You are also thinking of going with the "sneaky manipulation" route.
