Chapter 7
by Tyff
Where do you wanna go?
The movies
You think about the endless possibilities and your sister pulls away from the curb to proceed to anywhere but school. She pulls up to the light that leads to endless possibilities and you finally say, “Wanna catch a movie? There are a bunch of great options to watch.” Your sister smiled and said, “Oh my! Asking me out on a date! Bro, you are so bold.” You replay what you just said and realize that you did ask her out on a date. You apologize and try to change course, “I-I’m sorry we can do something else. Let’s just…” She put her hand on your shoulder and said, “Bro, I’m just yanking your chain. I would love to see a movie with you. God knows I haven’t seen anything in a long while. What did yo have in mind?” You thought, (How about an action movie but she’s never been an action movie person. Romance was definitely out of the picture as well. How about scary movie? I remember her telling me she enjoys a good scare.)
With your conclusion set, you say, “Let’s watch a scary movie. There is a good one out that’s supposed to really give you the heebie-jeebies.” Your sister laughs and says, “How thoughtful, bro. I thought you were gonna choose an action movie. How don’t you have a girlfriend yet?” You blush a bit and say, “Most girls at my school won’t even give me five seconds to talk to them. It’s a curse of being part of the unpopular crowd unlike you who was the shining star. Everyone wanted to be with you or wanted even five seconds of your time.” Your sister smiled with a wink and said, “Now you have more than the other losers. So I guess you better use this as practice. Don’t worry I would be too hard on you since this is your first time.” It didn’t take very long before we were in town and she parked in a relatively empty parking lot.
You got out of her car and saw her standing next to her door. You realize she is taking this date seriously and you hurry over to offer an arm to her. She grabs your arm and leans her head on your shoulder. “Ten points, little bro. Keep up the good work.” You both chuckled and didn’t think you would be getting tested as you approached the window to see that the first showing started in about ten minutes. You approached the window and said, “Two tickets for The Devil’s Plaything please.” The clerk asks for ID and you both show each others. The clerk tells you the price and she pulls out her card and pays for it. “Don’t worry! I got the tickets if you can pay for the concessions,” she said with a smile as the clerk handed back her card and two tickets. After making it inside, you approach the concession stand and ask for a large drink and popcorn. You turn and ask her, “Anything special for you?” She smiled mischievously before giving her answer.
Did she want anything special?
