Who gets trapped?
The mage and the wolf
You were heavily damaged in the fall, but it seemed the chandelier had high enough defense and wasn't destroyed enough for the fall to kill you. You were still as alive as any other weird ghost spirit thing was.
The same couldn't be said for the mage girl and the beastmaster's wolf however. You had managed to catch both of them under you when you fell, and they were both very clearly out of HP. You heard a happy dinging noise from somewhere, as your kills netted you enough experience to level up. The mage's body disappeared, probably respawning back in town.
"Ah hell..." The beastmaster cursed as she dusted herself off, she had barely avoided the wreckage, probably due to a high speed stat or some alertness perk. "I didn't think they'd put that kind of trap in such an early dungeon. Hope she isn't too bothered by it. Guess I'll message her and get her to come back. Sucks that I gotta replace my pet though..."
You were actually a bit surprised that she assumed it was a trap instead of you. Perhaps you just hadn't been as obvious as poltergeists normally were, or maybe this beastmaster was just a bit dumb. You didn't really care, you wanted to look over the stats from your level up.
Poltergeist
Lvl: 2
Melee Attack: -
Ranged Attack: -
Strengths and Weaknesses: -
Special Abilities:
Lesser Possesion - Able to possess some inanimate objects. The object posessed determines your stats.
Incorporeal - Invisible and intangible. Cannot attack or be attacked when not possessing something. You take damage when the object you are possessing takes damage.
If you had a mouth, you would have screamed. There was no change even after gaining a level. Before you could begin possessing and throwing things about in a fit of rage however, you noticed another menu pop up.
Growth Options:
Will o' Wisp - Gain a physical form, along with a magical attack. You can be directly attacked when not possessing something, but can also fight back.
Spirit - Possession can possess multiple inanimate objects. Possession can possess a single living creature at or below your own level. You remain incorporeal.
That calmed you down quickly. You supposed that poltergeist just didn't have any advancement options without becoming a more powerful monster. That kind of made sense to you. It's not like you had any stats to gain points in. Feeling excited, you made the choice on how to improve.
Which growth option do you take?

Game Monster
From Creep to Boss
You come into being as a low-level monster, the kind heroes chew through like popcorn. You know the drill, whether you're a player yourself or an artificial intelligence, and you're sick of it. You set out on your own quest: to defeat the heroes at any cost (or at least be an epic boss somewhere down the line).
