Chapter 7 by pivo pivo

You decide to start with....

The list of utilities that present at the kit.

As you read the manual, you stumble upon a list of utilities. It seems there were other items in the package you missed. You look back into the box and shuffle through the foam, your fingers brushing against a plastic bag. It has a noticeable weight to it. This must be it.

You turn your gaze back to the manual and scan the list:

  • SkinStealer Ray v.1.0b
  • Memory Reader v.1.1a
  • Portable Drone Filler v.2.3
  • SkinSewing kit

You have no idea what to expect from these, but you need to know what they do. The first thing you decide to check out is the Memory Reader. It seemed the most straightforward. The manual described it as a small tube-like instrument with a miniature screen on its side. You shove your hand into the bag, feeling around by touch. When your fingers close around a tube, you pull it out and bring it closer to your face. On the side, you spot the writing: "Memory Reader v.1.1a." Bingo!

As you hold it in your hand, you look back down at the manual.

"Memory Reader.

Version: 1.1a

Usage: The following apparatus is designed to read the memory of the transformed target and import it directly to the user. As a secondary use, this utility can overwrite and edit the memory of the target. Instructions on proper utilization of this tool can be found upon activating the terminal located on the side of the corpus."

Bringing the reader up to your face, you tap the screen. It flickers to life, presenting two options:

[Read/Import]

[Edit]

You tap on the first option. The window vanishes, and the screen flickers again, displaying new instructions: "To read/import memory, please press apparatus to the side of the head of the target while wearing one."

Should you test it?
