The last night before leaving

We spent that night doing a final check of all the bags, making sure the essentials were packed so we could fit right in at ease in our apartment. There weren’t many suitcases, probably 2 each, so it was a quick final cursory assessment before we packed them into the car.

“So this is it I guess,” I sighed, “I’m finally leaving my home.” I got a bit sentimental about moving out even though the apartment and campus wasn’t terribly far from us, only about a 2 and a half hour drive. “We had a lot of fun here,” Cass responded, resting her hand on my shoulder, “I’m sure mom and dad will be fine without us. We just have to look forward to the semester,” she reassured me.

“Well I’m gonna go to bed,” I say getting up and heading towards my room, “long day tomorrow.” Before I can get too far, Cass grabs the back of my shirt. “Hey bro,” she said quietly, “I know we’ll still be together but can we do it one more time here? For old times sakes?” I smiled, knowing exactly what she meant. “Fine,” I respond, pulling a quarter from my pocket, “heads or tails?” Long story short, we do a little game where we flip a coin and the loser has to give up their body to the winner to enjoy themselves in.

Cass eagerly thinks for a moment before saying, “tails.” I flip the coin with a clink as it flies in the air, flipping faster than the eye can see, before landing squarely on my palm.
