Chapter 2 by Insertnombre Insertnombre

Now… where to begin?

The beginning, like any proper story.

Let’s hope I can keep up a good narrator’s perspective.

It all began the day of my nineteenth birthday. However, the story needs to start a little bit earlier, just for context.

This day started as any other. It was the weekend, which meant that I could wake up about three hours later than normal. So, at 9:00 in the morning, a time still far too early to be awake, my alarm rang. Groggily, I pushed off my wonderfully warm sheets, turned off my alarm, and rolled out of bed. The hitting of my head against the floor jolted me awake to a point where my limbs were actually usable, though barely so.

I shambled into the bathroom, hoping that my morning routine woke me up. I flipped the switch on the mana siphon on my wall, prepping the shower for me to get in. I did my thing on the toilet, and looked myself over in the mirror. A girl with bags under her eyes, disheveled dark chocolate hair, and a resting grimace. I’m not a morning person.

Beyond the “temporary” effects of my consistent lack of sleep, there were some rather interesting features to my face. I had two almond-shaped eyes, but it was the color that stood out. The left iris was a deep, intense blue, the kind you saw within a flame. The right iris was a bright orange-red color that matched the color of a… match. Get it? No?

Alright, moving on… my lips were nice. Nothing super special, but they were well-shaped, well defined, and a nice color. My nose wasn’t hooked or long, but it wasn’t unhealthily small, either. It was perfectly average. I had a chin. Wasn’t a super defined one, but it was there.

Honestly, if I took better care of myself, I’d be pretty attractive. Once I was done gawking at myself, I brushed my teeth and hopped in the shower. Soon after, I was out, and I threw on a hoodie and jeans.

Mana
Mana is the raw form of magic. It is used in many things, such as ambient energy generators, which power most devices. It has also been proven to positively affect the amount of power a person can hold.

Morning Routine Completion!
