The Unluckiest

Lauren Adkins perused the gas station, and if she were a magic user, she might have seen the sparks fly. The magical energy flowing between her and the girl working the counter was noticeable to even the most amateur of witches and warlocks. However, Lauren went about her business, grabbing some snacks (even with a strict diet, she had to treat herself, after all), and beginning to pay.

Simone Cerman, the girl working the counter, huffed to herself silently. Life was, for Simone, a constant annoyance, seeing as she had the worst of luck.

She'd been denied from her dream college, her boyfriend had broken up with her, and she'd had to walk to work today in the light rain after her car broke down. This had all occurred in the last week.

As Lauren paid, large runic font transferred between the two, and both shivered a bit as they felt dramatically different.

Eventually, Simone went home for her shift, and the next day, she got an email from her 2nd pick for college. Things were turning around!

Meanwhile, as Lauren began to go outside, rain began to pour like the earth was being flooded. Lauren ran out to her car, already soaked, and began to curse.

"Fuck! Damnit!" She still needed to pump her own gas, and this station didn't have the area covered; they all stood in the open air. Lauren sat in her car, contemplating driving to another gas station. She'd driven her car right to near E, and on these country roads, she had 20 miles till another station....

Lauren sat back into her car, drenched in water, and blowing hair from her face. Every single inch of her was chilled with the pelting of the rain. Glad no one might see her in this state, Lauren drove off, and not a mere 5 minutes later, the rain ceased.

She was glad all she had to do tonight was go to the hotel, and tomorrow would be one of her days of checking out the local area. However, she did contemplate changing somewhere first.....
