The Trial

Cassandra walked Lara into a massive opening. It was a flat expanse of mudflat surrounded by tropical trees. It looked almost identical to a modern courtroom, albeit in the middle of a jungle with no brick surrounding. She saw rows and rows of topless women sitting, facing a courtroom bench where a dignified woman sat, though she was too far away for Lara to make out any details. At the edges of the flat were two stands for a accused and accuser.

"Go to the stand on the right. All will be well if you don't lie." Cassandra murmured into Lara's ear before disappearing into the crowd. Hesitantly, the adventurer trotted her way up to stand and took her place there, admiring the comfortableness of the wood. She looked at the audience and could feel their eyes digging into her, trying to identify who she was and what she was doing there. She gulped. She had gotten out of many sticky situations before but she couldn't see how she'd escape this one.

She looked to her left and got a closer look at the judge. It was also a woman, with incredible knockers. She was beautiful too, with soft caramel skin, a button nose, regal cheekbones and an alluring air of authority. Lara realized this must be the Queen of the Amazons, Hippolyta.

Suddenly, Hippolyta grabbed a gavel (???) and banged hard. Instantly the hall went silent.

"Greetings to all Amazons. We have gathered here to witness the trial of-" She began before looking down at a paper "-Lara, of the family Croft!" She cried out. Lara of the family Croft. Had a ring to it.

"According to the report, she was found near Lake Phaedra by Celio and a scout team of hers. She appeared to attempt to scare them off before being knocked out and transported here. On her were various devices from the Man's World, inclusive of a metal apparatus filled with an explosive powder, a metal ring with various inscriptions and ticking sticks inside it and a knife. Scout Commander Celio, is this true?" Hippolyta declared. A woman stepped forward- Lara recognized her as one of the women who captured her. She affirmed it to be true. Hippolyta continued on.

"Amazon Law dictates that all members of the Man's World must be executed, to protect the security and integrity of Themyscira. However, as a woman who brought no men with her, along with the fact that she can fluently converse in out tongue, Lara is entitled to a fair and just trial. She will be allowed to speak as to why we should accept her, and then a vote shall be cast." Hippolyta said solemnly. A sigh escaped Lara. There was hope after all. She frantically began to think of what might be important to this race of warrior women.

"Before however, I invite anyone to vouch for her. As a reminder, vouching for an outsider to be part of us mans they are your full responsibility. Any wrongs they do shall fall on both you and them, inclusive of ****. You will be expected to provide fully them." Hippolyta said. Lara pleadingly looked at the women, but they all shied away from her gaze. Lara locked eyes with Cassandra but all she got as a sad smile. Lara understood. This was a tall ask, especially since no one here knew jack shit about her

"Very well. Before we ask Lara to speak her piece, are there any opening remarks from the audience?" Hippolyta asked. The silence was almost deafening until a squeak affirmative was heard. Hippolyta raised an eyebrow.
"Very well Cassandra. Please come up and state your piece."

Lara watched in confusion as Cassandra jogged to the front and took her place on the opposite pedestal. She flashed a reassuring smile to Lara before beginning.

"Greetings Amazons. I am Cassandra. I was designated the handmaiden for Lara. When grooming her, I came across a discovery that I think will have some... significant consequences." She said. Lara and Hippolyta both frowned.

"Please, Sister, continue." Hippolyta gestured. Cassandra nodded meekly.

"If I'm not mistaken... Lara has a vagina." She whispered.

Immediately a collective gasp went through the crowd, much to Lara's shock. Did these Amazons... not have vaginas??

Hippolyta furiously banged her gavel on the table. Silence commenced, but Lara could almsot taste the tension in the air.

"Ianthe! Please approach the Lara's stand and confirm this!" Hippolyta said. An old woman tottered up, her sagging breasts swaying before ently asking Lara to come forward. She lifted up her loincloth and tugged her panty to the side before audibly gasping.

"Ianthe?" Hippolyta asked. The medic broke out of her trance and stared at Hippolyta dumbstruck.

"C-Cassandra speaks the truth, My Queen. She is capable of childbirth." The woman murmured. Immediately an uproar ensued as women leapt from their seats. Lara staggered back into her stand, extremely confused. Childbirth? And what was so surprising about a woman with a vagina?

Suddenly, one voice cut through the silence.

"I vouch for Lara Croft."
