Chapter 8 by GreatWiz GreatWiz

Who's the fifth contestant?

The Teacher, Nicole

Nicole woke up from her nap with a smile on her face. She loved sleeping whenever she had free time, but that couldn’t stop her from doing her job. Thankfully, she worked as an online professor, which meant that she didn’t need to leave her house or pajamas to do her job.

She logged into her account, posted the pre-recorded video she made of the topic, and assigned some homework to go along with it. This assignment will show her exactly where they stand concerning her lessons and if she needs to give out more supplementary material for them to understand the topic. Her advanced coding class isn’t a walk in the park, but if they were willing to put in the effort to succeed, then anyone could pass her class.

She started grading the last assignment she gave out to varying degrees of disappointment. Half of them hadn’t even turned it in at all, and only half of that number seemed to have tried on the assignment. She shook her head in disappointment as she graded the different assignments and wrote comments on their mistakes and how they could be improved in the future. Maybe she should only give the supplementary material to the people who tried on these assignments. However, college students are crafty and **** enough to do almost anything to pass. This means that the entire class will have it eventually even if she only gave it to one person. She might as well give it to everyone to ensure they even have a chance at passing.

A message on her phone halted her thoughts, and she stared down at her friend, Rachel’s number.

‘Hey, want to go have some fun?’

She texted back.

‘Not really’

‘Why not :('

Nicole sighed and typed, ‘Not in the mood. Besides, I'm working.’

‘Take the day off, please.’

‘No’

‘Come on, you need to get out of the house.’

‘I’m good’

‘We can go after work. I’m worried about you.’

‘I’m fine.’

‘You’re not fine.’

‘How would you know?’

‘Have you ever seen Amanda since the accident?’

‘...’

‘I’m coming over’

‘No, you’re not’

Nicole heard a knock at the door and went over to open it. She should’ve expected to see the face staring back at her in the doorway. Her friend, Rachel’s blue eyes stared back at her with a twinkle in her eyes.

“Yes, it’s me. I timed the messages well, right?’

Nicole couldn’t help but shake her head with a smile on her face.

“I guess you might as well come in since you're here.”

Rachel hopped inside, shut the door, and hugged her.

“It's not your fault. It was just a freak accident.”

“I know.”

“Then, stop beating yourself up about it.”

“That’s why you’re here.”

“Yeah, it's a friend’s holy mission to slap some sense into their friend when they’re being ridiculous. You’ve sulked long enough. I have some good news too.”

“Really?”

“Yeah, I’ve heard she woke up today, so she’s no longer in the coma.”

Nicole breathed a sigh of relief.

“However, the doctors aren’t sure if she’s going to be able to walk again.”

“Oh no.”

“Hey, hey, hey. It’s only a possibility. I have faith that she’ll be all right, so should you.”

“You’re right. Thanks, Rachel. I’m glad you're my friend.”

She hugged her even tighter as her eyes started to close, and the darkness consumed her.

Max watched as the next contestant was summoned onto the game show. She was an older-looking woman with messy brown hair and matching brown eyes. Her loose purple pajamas didn’t hide the nice curves she had, even if they weren’t nearly as huge as Ann’s or his mother's. Max didn’t recognize this woman, but she had to be someone related to his life.

“Welcome to Harem Hotel. Our fifth contestant was one of our dear master’s professors at the college he’s attending.”

Nicole looked at the various women and thought that maybe she hadn’t woken up this morning.

“Please introduce yourself to the audience.”

Nicole was too confused to resist, “My name is Nicole Adams, and I’m 30 years old. I enjoy reading in my spare time. My goal is to eventually use my skills in coding to accomplish something other than teaching the next generation.”

“Why did I just say that?” asked Nicole as she realized that she was **** to speak against her will.

Max finally realized who she was. She was the only professor that he liked since she gave such detailed and useful constructive criticism for his work. He never saw her face since all their interactions were online, but he always wanted to thank her in person. However, now was not the time.

Nicole found herself not being answered as her legs moved down to sit next to Brianna against her will.

Brianna looked at her and said, “It’ll be okay. I don’t get what’s going on, but we’ll get through it together.

Nicole relaxed a little but was still skeptical as Ann continued to speak.

“Next up is our sixth contestant, and she’s a special one, all right.”
