The Princess Is Awake

Azula’s eyes blinked to life.

She was wrapped in plastic packaging, which she swiftly ripped free from, and tried to examine her surroundings — only to find darkness. She raised her hand to conjure a flame so she could see, but nothing happened. “Hm?” She hummed, and did it again. Again, nothing. She scoffed impatiently. It wasn’t the season for an eclipse, something must’ve been blocking her ability. She felt around in front of her and found purchase, then braced a foot against the back and pushed, eventually knocking the front of the box out of place, and finding herself in a concrete chamber. Concrete and metal, she noted, and strange implements. She stepped out and noticed Mai and Ty Lee behind her, frozen stiff in the same wrappings she’d torn out of.

These models were equipped with limited subconscious knowledge of each other, such as command words, so she folded her arms and said “Activate.”

Mai and Ty Lee blinked to life as well, and tore themselves free. Ty Lee did a few acrobatic stretches while Mai sighed and stepped out of the box. “What’s up, Azula?” Ty Lee asked, “Where are we?”

“I don’t know,” she admitted, “Some kind of storage room, at the very least. My bending isn’t working.”

“Oh gosh, that’s awful!” Ty Lee said empathetically, “Have you done those stretches I told you about?”

“Not now, Ty Lee!” Azula barked.

“For what it’s worth,“ Mai chimed in as she felt around her waist and under her arms, “I don’t have any of my weapons.”

“Hm,” Azula pondered for a moment.

“Let’s get outta here,” Ty Lee said, heading for the regular door.

“In a minute,” Azula raised a finger, looking around the garage. “We seem to be without our weapons or abilities, so let’s scavenge what supplies we can, then we move in.”
