The Power of Invisibility

K-T was walking to high school, when something glinted in the sun from the woods near his route. Curiosity made him go see what it was and he discovered a gold ring with a blue stone half buried in the ground. He brushed off the dirt and instinctively slipped it on the ring finger of his left hand. It fit. He hoped it did not look too girly to wear a ring with a stone in it, but he felt lucky anyway and decided to wear it for awhile.

Once at school, he could see the stone was still smudged with dirt, so alone in the boys bathroom, he stood before the sink and mirror. Keeping the ring on his finger, he rinsed off the dingy stone. Then using a paper towel, he pressed the material hard against the stone to get a good shine, when suddenly he felt the stone push inward and it felt like a needle pricking his finger.

The pain made him stop but then he felt utter horror as he looked into the mirror and only saw his clothes but not himself. He waved a hand at the mirror and realized he had become invisible. Fear set in thinking he would be stuck like that forever. What would he tell his parents? How would any of his friends understand what he was going through? Then he began to see his invisibility as a superpower and his imagination played out different scenarios. Maybe this would not be a bad thing after all. Perhaps he would even become famous for it.

He heard the voices of a couple of boys as the bathroom door started to open. He ran to the nearest toilet stall and sat there trying to think of what to do. Then it hit him. He could remove his clothes and wad them up behind the toilet seat. Then he could go anywhere he wanted at school.
