Chapter 11 by ThisIsNoOne ThisIsNoOne

Where does Josie work?

The People of Walmart

Back on the road Josie continued to operate on instinct. She wasn't sure where she worked, but she knew that when she got there it would all make sense. As Josie drove it seemed like she was constantly bombarded with new sensations and new realities. Each bump in the road caused her fat body to jiggle and each time she turned the steering wheel her belly seemed to get in the way.

Josie's drive finally came to an end when she parked outside Walmart. "No...." Josie thought as her head drooped. "I can't be a cashier..." Josie was again on the verge of tears. She had liked her old job and life as a web developer. Taking a deep breath Josie, got out of her car and walked into the store. As she clocked in, it felt like she was being admitted to prison. Her old life had been ripped away from her, and now she was stuck in this new miserable reality. "Fuck my life..." She thought as she pulled on her blue vest.

Josie took her place at the cash register and began checking people out. Working the morning shift meant that most of her customers were retirees and stay at home moms. After an hour of helping old people use their credit cards and watching unruly kids cry because they wanted candy Josie was ready to go lay down in traffic. "I can see why Mason and I smoke so much pot." Josie thought as foot traffic began to pick up.

As noon approached it seemed like the customer base was shifting from retirees to younger people and people on their lunch breaks. Josie's once busy line began to slow down to a trickle. Instead of packed shopping carts Josie now had people with one or two items coming through her line to avoid the wait at the self check out. By this point the shoppers were all beginning to blend together in Josie's head. But that was about to change when a new shopper walked up to Josie's register.

Who is this new shopper?
