Chapter 33 by neoas
What's next?
The Old Man immediately disappears as if in a hurry.
The Old Man looked off into space for a moment, seeming to be contemplating something in his head—trying to take it in. “Hey!?” Jonny screamed. He snapped back to reality and looked at Jonny. “Apologies boy, but I must warn the others. Be careful!” he said urgently as the Old Man walked away in obvious haste and simply disappeared in a puff of smoke. Jonny stood there on the hilltop for a few moments as the mid-day sun shone down upon him in his curvy, well-endowed vessel. “Just fucking great . . . “ Jonny mused to himself as he glanced about in disgust at the lack of help he had been given. “Thanks for the help dumbass!” he yelled out. He stood again to await a response. None came. Jonny stood still longer upon the vacant hilltop. Who was this new woman? Was she a demon? A witch? She had seemed to temporarily posses the people Jonny bumped into on the way to the bathroom—surely she could do much more. Could she posses people without Jonny’s even knowing? Could she posses the same bodies Jonny did, leaving him powerless inside the meat suits he had sought to control? All the possibilities troubled him.
Deciding none of that would be resolved now, Jonny’s voluptuous body disappeared in a puff of smoke and quickly reappeared in the same bathroom in the police station from which he had come. Jonny glanced around under the fluorescent lighting of the bathroom. No one else seemed present. He took a look at the body of Leah Brady, making a couple faces in the mirror and running his hands over his ample chest. He looked into the reflection in the mirror, addressing Leah herself. “You’re mine until I feel like climbing out of you, honey,” he said with a smile as he turned and walked from the bathroom.
Emerging again into the police station, Jonny began a walk through the main corridor in the direction of Selina’s office so that he could be told what he had to do next. It was just the middle of the day, after all, and Jonny still wanted to hang around for a bit longer. Still, the whole experience was new. Before, Jonny had known he was king of the roost. Now, every step he took brought the pleasant jiggle of Leah’s breasts, but also the disquieting thought that the next step would bring him into contact with witch—maybe Jonny would not even know this person when he saw her? Or might the witch actually posses a male body? Who knew?
“Leah!” Jonny hard from behind him as he walked. He spun around to see Selina walking toward him quickly. “Chief?” Jonny answered. Selina beheld Jonny carefully. “I ah, I saw you duck out of the meeting earlier . . . you didn’t look so good—you ok?” she asked. Jonny smiled. “Yeah, I’m fine . . . just a bit light-headed,” Jonny lied. “Well how about we go get some grub? You’ll feel better after you get some food in your belly, and consider it payment for a job well done with that hooker today,” Selina said with a smile. Jonny quickly agreed, and the two women walked out of the police station and got into Selina’s car. The two made small talk while they headed for the restaurant, and the journey passed pleasantly enough.
Selina pulled the car into a small diner and rolled to a stop. As Jonny got out, he thought that the diner looked like some place out of the 1950s—everything was chrome, there was a Juke Box inside, and pictures of Buddy Holly and Jerry Lee Lewis adorned the walls. Presumably their tunes were the ones that filled the juke box. Jonny smiled a bit at the charm of the place. The two women walked in and sat down at a booth, with each marveling a bit at the old-time trinkets that covered the walls and shrouded the whole place in a pleasant air of a simpler time.
“I like this place,” Selina said, “they have wonderful burgers, and the atmosphere is nice.” A waiter quickly arrived to take their orders. “I’ll have a double-decker burger with steak fries and a milk shake,” Jonny announced, and the waiter scribbled it on his writing pad. Selina looked thoughtful for a moment, and then she ordered only a small order of fries and a diet Coke, and the waiter left. “Where do you put it all honey?” Selina asked her companion. Jonny smiled knowingly. Leah had a nice body, but Jonny figured he’d eat what he damn well wanted after today’s ordeal and let the real Leah worry about the damage he might do to her diet. “Let’s just say I can change my look in a jiffy if I need to boss,” Jonny said with a smile. “How about you? You say this place has great burgers, and they you don’t get one?”
Selina smiled and blushed a little. “Well—well I shouldn’t eat a bunch because it’s already 2 and I have, you know, that thing tonight with—um—that guy,” she said nervously. Jonny’s vessel smiled. “Oh yeah I’m sure he’s a real cutie. Tell me all about him,” he said. Selina laughed, obviously blushing. She paused. She paused again. She didn’t know where to start. “I, ah, well there’s this guy and he’s really great,” she said with a dreamy smile on her face, “um, and I just met him not too long ago, and he took me to the beach at night. It was the most romantic date I’ve ever been on, and he held me and I fell asleep in his arms,” she explained. “Sounds like a real catch,” Jonny said self-servingly. “Yeah,” Selina said, a hint of reservation in her voice. “But?” Jonny asked, sensing one was coming. Selina paused again. The waiter brought their food, and the two women began to eat, Jonny tearing voraciously into his burger.
“Well he’s not really my a—“ Selina began, and then cut herself off, trying to come up with a more artful way to say what she wanted. “I don’t know if my friends and family would accept—well—me, and well you know I’m in my forties, and—“ she stuttered as she chomped on a fry. Jonny looked straight into Selina’s eyes. “Do you like him?” he asked. Immediately, Selina smiled and nodded vigorously. “Yes,” she said. “And does he like you?” Jonny pressed. Selina paused. “I—I think so . . . he had a great time. Great enough that he wants to see me again in a few hours.” Leah’s face broke into a smile. “Then that’s all you need to know,” she said simply. Selina thought about it and nodded with a smile. “You’re damn right,” she said as she sipped her diet coke. “Of course I am girl,” Jonny said.
The two were suddenly interrupted by a hurried message from dispatch. “Chief,” came the call over the shoulder-mounted communication device, “there’s a situation at the university in Wilkins Hall . . . you’re close. Can you check it out?” “Can do,” Selina said quickly as she wiped her mouth with a napkin and waited for Leah to scarf down the last of her burger. “Game time rookie!” Selina said as the two women headed to the car. The two hopped in, and Selina sped the car toward the source of the trouble.
Jonny sat in the car, his eyes darting about as the engine revved and the siren wailed. Jonny’s host’s heart beat quickly on her well-endowed chest. Jonny felt himself become suddenly jumpy, like a rider waiting for a roller coaster to start. “Maybe it’s just this body,” Jonny thought silently to himself, “but I sort of like this.” Within a few minutes, the car arrived at a school not too far from the restaurant. The campus was situated upon a beautiful set of green, rolling hills nestled into a small suburb that teamed with the life of a college enclave. Bars and school supplies places, many proudly displaying the school’s logo, dotted the street corners.
The two women got out of the car and were met by a well-dressed but frantic woman who greeted them and led them in the direction of the trouble. “I’m Delores Duckworth, head of the Classics Department. Please come this way,” the frumpy woman said as she shook the hands of the officers. “What seems to be the problem, mam?” Jonny asked, taking the initiative and enjoying his role as an authority figure. “It’s Arnold Chubman, one of our professors,” she said as she led the women into an academic building and quickly up the stairs to a row of what seemed to be professors’ offices. “He’s been a bit eccentric for a number of years now, weird really, but always a nice man and a fine scholar. He’s gone a bit overboard and barricaded himself in his office, and he won’t come out,” the woman explained as the three reached the door bearing the strange professor’s strange name. “Arnie, open the door, will you?” the woman called as she tried the handle to no avail. No sound came from within the office.
“His office also has a stairway that leads to the roof of the building,” Duckworth said, “he may have gone up there.” Selina paused for a minute as she tried to figure out what to do. “Okay,” she said, “some of these buildings have an old maintenance ladder or some external access to the roof for safety purposes, so I’m going to go try to find one of those. Leah, you stay here and try to get into the office. Call one of the maintenance guys and tell him to bring a key, and the minute the good Dr. Chubworth feels inclined to come out, I want to know about it,” Selina said. “Right boss,” Jonny said, and with that Selina ran off, jiggling beautifully all the way.
