The Mining forewoman tries to sell out the militia

As you hit the ground you found yourself next to Jarl Helga's group. The forces around you consolidating as you prepared for the Captain's signal to move out.

One other raider joined you, a mutual friend of yours and Aslaug's named Ranveig. She was a dark skinned girl, with finely braided black hair that reached down to the bottom of her neck. Her cocoa colored eyes had a mischievous glint in them as she looked around at the other raiders. Like Aslaug she'd brought a shield and raised it to indicate those around you. "We should really get a move on. Don't want to keep those fertile ladies waiting do we?" She asked, the mirth evident in her voice. Then in a just as playful tone she lowered her voice. "Don't want everyone getting so antsy that they mistake me for the bad guys."

She was the daughter of a thrall captured in a raid much like this one. You'd met Ranveig in training after she'd embarrassed a Thane's daughter in a one on one match. Said daughter had tried to exact **** with a few toadies. The look on their faces when you and Aslaug had intervened to make it a fair fight had been worth the week spent cleaning the bathrooms for 'going too far'. The three of you had been best friends ever since.

"We won't be moving just yet." A voice interrupted, the three of you turning to see Helga approaching, the senior raider looking toward the target. "We've gotten a call from the mine supervisor. The coward is offering to surrender the militia if we leave half the mineral stockpile."

"Coward." Aslaug spit, or at least she would have if it wouldn't have just messed up her helmet.

"Very much so. Plus that surrender doesn't include the militia's officers which involves her. Still taking all this without a fight is something the Captain has to consider." Helga said with a shrug.

"Couldn't it also be a trap? What if she's stalling for time?" Ranveig asked.

"I'd bet my firstborn's virginity its not. No fleet assets in system." Helga said

"Mom I'm right here." One of her retinue said.

"It wouldn't be much of a bet if the winner couldn't collect." Helga replied, getting a few laughs as they waited for the captain's decision.
