Chapter 3 by dr_wankenstein dr_wankenstein

Well, dear reader? What ought to be the girls' first attraction?

The Hall of Memory

"What on earth is this place?"

"The Hall of Memory," said Bonnie, looking around at the paintings on the wall. "It said on the sign. Remember?"

"But what is the Hall of Memory?"

"It's..." Bonnie hesitated. The answer was on the tip of the tongue. For some reason, she felt like she'd been here before, even though she'd never even heard of Trickett and Trapp's Carnival of Shadows before tonight. "Well, it's a hall. Where they keep memories. Or something. Seems kind of boring, to be honest."

Susie was regarding one of the paintings suspiciously. "I don't like it," she said. "Who is this supposed to appeal to?"

"Boys?"

"Why would anyone want to appeal to boys?"

"Beats me," said Bonnie, shrugging. The painting displayed a forest scene. A procession of men on horseback were making their way down a woodland road, some clad in armor as if recently returned from a battle. Behind a tree, in the background, hard to notice at first glance, crouched a beautiful blonde damsel. All that could be seen of her was her head and shoulders, but from her frightened, abashed expression, it wasn't hard to guess why she didn't want to be caught.

"You know," she said, "it kinda reminds me of something."

"What?"

"Do you remember when..."

What's next?
