The Dupla-repla-cator.

Looking above your workbench area, you see all of your completed inventions sitting nicely behind glass in the display case. None of these will do, I need something truly impressive to show Cassandra you think to yourself as you scratch your stubble covered chin. Her inventions are always so sleek and compact compared to your more bulky and rugged designs. Your eyes peer down at your current project, the Dupla-repla-cator. This device can scan and print out a replica of anything using nanomaterial stored in cylinders on the users belt. Or at least it is supposed to. You have yet to get a totally perfect copy successfully, but surely Cassandra wouldn't inspect it that closely. A sly grin crosses your face as you think of the perfect plan. You'll get Cass to show her invention first and secretly scan it as she does. Her demonstration should give you enough time to print a copy behind your back.

"I can't wait to see the look on her face when I whip out a copy of her invention," you chuckle. You gather all the pieces from the bench, ensuring everything is in order. The wires and hoses run down each arm to power the scanner on one wrist and the printer nozzle on the other. The nanomaterial cylinders and brains of the device strap onto a belt around the waist. While it may not be the most compact, it fits nicely under a jacket. She should be totally surprised. After a bit of adjusting and tweaking, you are ready to go. Testing the new settings would be ideal, but nanomaterial is extremely expensive, you'll just have to hope it works.

In the former fabrication district the buildings are all grey structures, clad with various pipes and vents and green tinted windows. Luckily, the building you were looking for was easy enough to identify, a large 69A stenciled on each side. You giggle to yourself before walking around the exterior, looking for the entrance.

A doorway wooshes open as you approach, looking above you see a scanner camera. She must have pre programmed it to open for your ID. As you take one last look at the outside of the abandoned facility, you wonder if it belongs to Cassandra's parents, or at least their company Vera Corp. All signage (save for the 69A) has been removed, so there is no way to tell.

Entering the building reveals that most of the machinery is gone as well, though a few larger obsolete machines remain on the open factory floor. As the evening sun gets lower, dim lights come on along the walls and ceiling. You notice there is a ramp that leads to an upper floor. Cassandra isn't here yet, but you assume there are offices upstairs that are better suited to your meeting than the big open factory floor, so you head up the ramp.

The upstairs rooms still have a surprising amount of furniture set up. There are couches, tables and pictures on the walls, even 2 bedrooms you guess were for the employees who stayed overnight to monitor the fabricators if anything went wrong during the night. Moving down the hall, you also find a small kitchen. Opening the fridge out of curiosity, you are pleasantly surprised to see a few drinks and some other snacks that aren't expired. Maybe she still uses this place to test things, or maybe there are still some working machines downstairs that she makes use of. You grab a water and a few candies, then head off to explore while you wait for Cassandra to arrive.
