Chapter 19 by mburns

Who will be the victor?

The Duel (Asami Ending)

The three heroes charged at Takana. The man grimaced, and pulled up a shield of ice to defend himself. Bolin smashed the ground, pulling out a chunk of stone, and chucked it at the wall of ice, breaking it into millions of shards. Asami charged forward with her gauntlet, sending a bolt of electricity his way, but it was intercepted by his lightning quick waterbending. Korra leaped forward, fists of fire on the ready, and chucked both at him. His fur coat set ablaze, and he quickly ripped off his flaming collar, and chucked it at the Avatar. He whistled for his guards, and two metalbenders approached from the shadows, bending chains to wrap around Bolin and Asami. The two immediately got tangled up and fell to the floor. "One on one, Avatar. Let's see how strong you are now."

Takana sent two circular blades of ice the Avatar's way. Korra dodged them, but they got close enough to slice two cuts in her shoulders. She yelped in pain, then retrieved the blades before they hit the wall, and set them on fire, and effect that would last just long enough to land a killing blow on Takana. However, he ducked, leaving the blades to melt in midair. Korra noticed that the blades had not just sliced her shoulders, but had cut the straps on her apron, as it pooled on the floor beneath her. "Oh well, no use worrying about that right now." Bolin and Asami's mouths gaped in unison as Korra stood in a battle stance, putting no mind to her exposed body, but putting all of her energy into staring down Takana. For the first time, she saw him flinch.

The fight was over quickly. She used airbending to float him up into the air, and created a stone prison to lock him in. After disposing of the metalbending guards, she ran over to free her friends. Bolin was absolutely starstruck. "You were amazing! He was all like *swish, swish* and you went like, *ba boom, pow*! Oh, and then-" Korra tuned out Bolin's fangirling rant as she made eye contact with Asami, who, for the first time all day, truly looked proud of her. She gave her the signature crooked smile, and the three of them headed out, saddling up on Oogi to head back home. On the way, they made sure to strip the uniforms off of some prison guards, so that Korra and Bolin had something to wear upon their return. Asami leaned over to Korra, and whispered that she'd be free to remove her wardrobe whenever she came over to visit. Korra blushed.

Oogi landed at Air Temple Island. It felt good to be back in Republic City with her friends, reunited at last. Korra still felt a bit of a thrill though. She knew for a fact that, no matter what, this was far from her last adventure.

The End...?
